BLURB:
Halloween is Beau Bissonet’s favorite holiday, from carving pumpkins to decorating his yard to donning a costume and scaring the neighborhood kids. But this year his Halloween is about to take a different turn, one that will challenge his skills as a detective and his commitment to his partner in work and love.
A year since Beau and Tollison solved The Royal Street Heist, found love, and formed Bissonet & Cruz Investigations, they are thriving personally and professionally. That is until Tollison’s ex, Bastien Andros, shows up out of the blue. Naturally, Beau’s suspicious, but two days after Bastien’s arrival, he goes missing, and Tollison worries his past may catch up to him.
A mysterious package makes clear who has Bastien and what’s at stake. With both Bastien and Beau’s lives now at risk, Tollison has only one option: travel to Zurich, Switzerland, secure and deliver the ransom, keep both men safe, and stay true to himself at the same time.
REVIEW:
Hmmm…so it’s safe to say I preferred Beau and Tollison when they weren’t in an established relationship. There was something so tumultuous about this couple when they were hunting each other in book 1. I almost didn’t even recognize them in this book but it was nice to see them settled. I just missed the push and pull from the first book. This was very sugary sweet with added layers of mystery.
Beau and Tollison are happy and ensconced in their life as Private Investigators in New Orleans. Things are perfect for them. Their business is picking up and they’re still happily in love. Unfortunately things don’t stay that way for long.
With a threat to their lives Beau and Tol embark on a dangerous mission. Accompanied by Auggie and Bruce Tol needs to use his previous illegal talents to try and save his old and current lovers.
I am a fan of Scotty Cade’s writing. Everything flowed perfectly and the plot definitely was solid. I loved the Halloween scenes and watching Beau get so excited about it made me smile. I am the same way about Halloween. The mystery and danger were good too.
Like I mentioned I prefer The Royal Street Heist over this book only because I loved how Tol and Beau were before they entered into domestic bliss. Maybe I’m not a fan of established relationship stories? I don’t know but I think anyone who read and loved book 1 would enjoy this one as well.
