BLURB:
“Bros stick together no matter what.”
When Chris and Liam made that promise, they had no idea how important it would become or how it would be tested in the most brutal way. Nine years later, their bond cemented in blood, that relationship is all they have to hold on to.
“No matter what happens, this friendship will be the one constant we can count on.”
When Billy and Owen made that promise, they knew exactly how dangerous the world could be. They survived prison by protecting each other and they survived freedom by holding that promise sacred. Now they want more than just to survive and they want it from the brothers whose bond is as strong as their own.
“We are stronger together than we’ll ever be apart.”
When Owen reaches his breaking point, Chris jumps at the chance to make things right for all of them. With the future in their grasp, will they realize their strength is in their numbers and finally become the family they crave?
Author’s Note: This is NOT a foursome, but the story of two couples that needed to be told together.
REVIEW:
I honestly don’t know what happened here. This completely did not work for me and I’m so incredibly saddened by it. Keep in mind I’ve read and LOVED all of the Sizzling Heat books. You can read all my reviews at Love Bytes. And I’ve loved these 4 men since we first met them. I’ve been itching, dying, pacing and waiting for their stories and now that I’ve read them. I wish I hadn’t. I love angst, drama, sadness, pain, and all the feelings those encompass but this….I just don’t know. I was annoyed, a lot by how emotional they all were. Everything seemed like an emotional crisis or meltdown and I was exhausted.
And I know that’s unfair but I was annoyed and in being so felt absolutely no connection to the characters when in past books I had. If I had to narrow it down I liked Chris the best then Billy, Liam, and then Owen. There was a lot of talking about the past when I feel like that was pretty much covered in previous books. Yes, I think it should have been mentioned and probably recapped but this beat a dead horse then woke the dead horse back up and beat it to death again. And this happened throughout the story. This story didn’t leave me with a smile, just frustration and confusion.
A lot of this book is about Chris and Owen/Billy and Liam getting all of their issues hashed out and coming together as happy, healthy couples. Chris finally breaks his silence and Billy finally gets the nerve to talk with Chris about Liam. Owen is still a complete mess and Liam is goofy over Billy (Billy Bear I was not a fan of.)
Yes, I was happy these men finally found peace and happiness with their chosen partner. I think fans of the series like I am would want to read this especially since these 4 have been such a major part in the previous books. But this was not my favorite. Not even close and I’m on the fence as saying I may not have even really liked it but the past 4 books were all 4 and 5 stars for me so I am incredibly torn.
Overall, the writing was everything Jessie G does so well. I find no fault in that and like I said if you’re a fan you probably need to read this just to get the closure on these four.
