This book is the second in the series and is preceded by FRET. It can be read as a standalone. It contains homosexual relations and harsh language. A sneak peek to book 3 follows the ending.
Jinx Jett is a rock superstar. As such, the hunky Skull Blasters drummer thoroughly enjoys the many perks of willing groupies, earning him a reputation as the band slut. Making it big and scoring hot women is something Jinx never expected. There’s a little voice in the back of his mind constantly reminding him of how he used to be — shy, overweight and acne prone. One night in a gay bar turns life upside down when Jinx runs into Jayden Dempsey, a kid he’s been fantasizing about since giving him his autograph at a mall. Long-held insecurities keep Jinx from fully committing to anyone, and he may lose Jayden if he can’t put his past behind him.
Jayden Dempsey always wanted out of his life in small-town Alabama. When his parents kicked him out after he told them he was gay, Jayden decided the time was right to move on. He crosses the country to try out for ‘Singers!’, a show that propels unknowns to stardom. In a twist, producers choose him and three others as winners and form a boy band called London Boys. This season, the show brings Jayden and the guys back for the finale. Surprise! The contest’s heavy metal finalist will be singing with Skull Blasters.
Jinx and Jayden’s initial meeting doesn’t go so well, and Jayden’s stunned when the guy he’s crushed on for years turns out to be a total jerk. It doesn’t stop him from falling into Jinx’s arms every time they’re alone, but Jayden didn’t sign on for one nighters. He wants Jinx Jett, baggage and all.
Can a former teen outcast put rejection behind him and embrace the acceptance standing right in front of him? How much will one boy bander put up with from his rock idol before enough is enough? Can they make it work? Or are they jinxed in love?
REVIEW:
Where book 1 (FRET) was good, telling us Gareth and Axel’s story, this book was flat out amazing!
Miss Gasq-Dion put everything in this book that you can possibly think or dream about. I expected it to be good because I really liked the first book already and I love me some rock star but this hit it out of the park.
After reading the first book, which I encourage to do, you won’t be able to help wanting to read Jinx’s story. You will by dying to know what happened to him, what pushes him and makes him tick. As the blurb tells us, Jinx likes the life he is leading of the big time rock star and that includes all benefits and groupies, yet seeing Gareth and his husband makes him wonder. When he decides to act on one of those feelings he finds an unexpected surprise at the other end!
When Jared, who definitely had his struggles coming out and standing tall, meets Jinx for the first time he fanboys all over him, having idolized the Skull Blaster drummer ever since he can remember, collecting everything there was about him. When they meet totally out of the blue for a second time, the cards are totally different and Jared finds himself totally engrossed with Jinx Jett.
Jinx finds himself in an unwanted position when Jared is gone and he himself needs to go out with the band for a huge tour. There is no denying Jared opened up something inside him that he can’t decide if it should have stayed hidden, or if it was always meant to come out.
Jared and especially Jinx have some serious issues to overcome before they can even begin to think about having anything close to something serious. Not to mention the part about Jinx having to come out literally despite what we find out during the book what was taught to him growing up.
One of the special things in this book is the family and the changes they go through. Both set of parents have some major issues behind their name but still author Sandrine Gasq-Dion made them part of this story in a most unexpected way that as a reader you can even wrap your head about the things that happened. Very suprisingly to me I admit it touched me personally.
If you are familiar with this authors work you know you can expect some smoking hot scenes and this story is no exception to that. The sex and dare I say the love is burning from your screen and makes you hot and bothered yet very warm inside and is kind of a metaphor for this story in total.
I love all the characters in this series, the band members & the entourage, and it makes me anxious to read all their stories and extremely happy to see things like the sneak preview at the end of this book knowing and Harley’s story is coming. I hope the wait won’t be too long
A definite 5 heart rating for me and if I could I would have added a star to it.
