When psychic Nate Coleman dreams of a murder, he knows it’s a premonition. He can’t forget the image of his ex-lover with a bullet hole through his chest. Nate has no choice but to confront Will and face the skeptical scientist’s ridicule.
Dr. William Ryner doesn’t believe in what he can’t prove. When Nate comes back into his life, it’s not to rekindle their love, but to bring up more of that mumbo jumbo that split them apart.
Despite Will’s refusal to listen, Nate can’t ignore the premonition. And, Will can’t ignore Nate. Before the gunman strikes, Will must either trust in Nate’s ability or rely only on the facts, but if he does the latter, pride could be the death of him.

Today I’m very happy to be interviewing Viki Lyn author of Perceived Love. Hi Viki, thank you for agreeing to this interview. Tell us a little about yourself, your background, and your current book.
Well, let’s see. There’s not much to tell about myself. I never thought I’d ever publish books. I’ve always been ‘creative’ and have an art degree from San Diego State. For years I studied and taught art classes and even opened an art gallery with my BBF. Then years later, I discovered how fun it was writing stories. I’ve been hooked on it ever since.
Why did you choose to write M/M stories?
I switched to writing gay fiction after publishing historical ‘straight’ romances. I’ve always been in tune with the gay scene since the 70’s. I love gay movies and got into Japanese yaoi, which is boy-love manga. I started reading m/m romances and really enjoyed them. So it wasn’t that far flung that I would switch to writing what I loved to read. I’ve been writing m/m romances since 2009. Perceived Love is my fourteenth M/M romance.
What inspired you to write your first book?
I love ‘best friends fall in love’ tropes. This is how Blue Skye began, which is the first book in my Woodland Village series.
When and why did you begin writing?
Years ago I discovered fan fiction. That’s how I began and from there I slowly began to write using my own characters. I never thought of publishing any of my work. Perceived Love is dedicated to Reality Freedom, a Santa Cruz psychic who saw me publishing books in the future. That was in the early 80’s and I never thought about writing, let alone publishing a book. Go figure. She was right.
What are you current projects?
Lover’s Trill: A Magical Christmas is in the process of edits. This is a short story that takes place a year after Leo and Andre reconnect. Just a light, cute piece of fluff–grin. Loose Id will publish the book during the holidays. I’m finishing Secretus, a M/M romance set in Big Sur, California, one of my favorite places on earth. I have this fantasy that someday I will be able to afford to live there. Lots of luck needed for that dream to come true, but at least my characters can live out my fantasies. One of the joys of writing is letting my characters have careers I’ve only dreamed of. That’s why so many of my characters have creative professions. J
Off topic: What secret talents do you have?
I can fly! Ssh, put don’t tell anyone or the CIA might try to recruit me for their nefarious purposes.
Will hurried across the foyer, avoiding eye contact with his colleagues. If he didn’t get some fresh air, he’d lose his lunch. When Nate walked out on their relationship, he had escaped to London and eventually healed his heart. Or so he pretended. To forgive and forget. Because he wanted to smash his fist through a plate-glass window after seeing Nate again.
Will hadn’t forgiven Nate, not by a long shot.
Once outside, he paced in front of the fountain and itched for a cigarette. But he’d stopped smoking months ago, and he wasn’t going to let Nate derail his control.
Will ran his hand through his hair. He’d miscalculated. When he decided to take the position at SynGen, he’d reasoned the statistical odds of running into Nate would be slight. But not even a year from the date when Will returned home, Nate had shown up spouting nonsense about some goddamn mystical dream.
Yet Will’s heart ached at how good Nate had looked in his black pants and white shirt. So much so that Will couldn’t help undressing Nate in his mind, even while he wanted to wring Nate’s neck. And when Nate had scrunched his nose at him, a habit of his when agitated, Will’s chest tightened from the familiarity. Those blue eyes were still clear, still intelligent, still fucking beautiful. Nate’s best feature, although the total package had given Will a jolt to the heart when they first met.
Will looked down, thankful for his lab coat. He hated how his cock had reacted at seeing his ex again.
Christ. He had to get a grip on his emotions. Nate had come to warn him of an assassin. How could Will take that seriously? No one wanted to kill him. He had no ex-boyfriends lurking in the shadows or disgruntled employees out for revenge. Nate was making a living by exploiting people’s ignorance, but Will would be damned if he was one of Nate’s gullible victims.
