REVIEW:
This short story is the sequel to The One That I Want and should not be attempted as a standalone. Basically, it’s one big, squishy, feel-good epilogue that is a must read for anyone who read and enjoyed that first story.
Jason and Paul, our loved-up main characters from the previous book are back. They’ve been together for a year and are preparing to walk down the aisle and become husband and husband. Jason is trying (and failing) not to panic at the thought of being married in a church packed to the rafters with New York’s social elite and business VIPs. As he gets ready with the help of Paul’s sister, he thinks back over the last year and remembers the disagreements that brought them to where they are today.
I loved the idea of this story. Firstly, yes, there are flashbacks but they make up the first half of this tale, so they aren’t those annoying type flashbacks that take you out of the present story, but are instead fun moments of catch up between the first book and this one. I really liked the way that the author chose to focus on incidents that began with an argument rather than moments that were nothing but more love and easy times. Some of the moments were serious, like Paul’s angry dislike of Dave (Jason’s cat) and some were nothing but fun, like the debate over stylist Pierre vs. barber Eric. Although these were all moments of contention, whether somber or simply joking around, the results showed us just how perfect these two men are for each other.
As with the first story there is a tie-in to Grease and the author again provides us with plenty of sigh worthy moments, including a beautiful first dance for the newly married couple.
Once again I feel the need to mention the covers, which I adore for their catchy uniqueness.
Again, don’t read this without first reading The One That I Want, but once you do read that one, well I don’t really need to tell you to follow up with this. You won’t be able to resist finding out what happens next.
