Zander Anatolius has been revived from the fatal effects of the super-soldier program, but now he has to face his estranged family and tell a story few would believe. With his lover and the crew of the Chaos at his side, Zander returns home to a media frenzy, threats from the military and pressure to join the family business.
Felix Ingesson still struggles with the horror of believing Zander dead. And no matter how strong their emotional connection is, Felix feels out of place in the glittery world of Zander’s rich family. His lover would be better off without a broken, low-class ship’s engineer holding him back.
When the crew receives word that another of Zander’s former teammates needs rescue, Felix travels with the Chaos…setting Zander free. But when Zander is arrested for treason, the men realize they need each other as much as ever—not only to survive, but to make their lives worth living.
REVIEW:
With each new book in this series, I come to love the world that these authors have created, just a little bit more. And by “a little bit” I really mean a lot! I really enjoy the characters and the storyline in this series. The action feels so real, that it just grabs you and holds you until the end of the book.
In Skip Trace, we pick up the story of Zander Anatolius (Zed) and his partner Felix Ingesson (Flick) shortly after the events in Lonely Shore. At the end of that book Zed had been brought back to life by the mysterious Guardians, and Flick was still battling his inner demons.
Not much has changed when we pick up the thread in Skip Trace. The crew of the Chaos has arrived at Zed’s father’s primary space station, where his entire extended family resides. Zander is welcomed with open arms, but Felix feels he isn’t good enough for that fancy world. He is only a station rat after all, and a broken one at that. After living through the torture he underwent with the aliens who captured him during the war, he has never been the same.
Now the military is back for Zander, accusing him of treason and leaking government secrets to both humans and aliens. Can Zander and Felix survive? Is there any hope they can have a life together?
I really enjoyed how the authors continued this saga. At the last page, I was definitely hoping for a miracle and that I would turn the page to find another chapter….but it wasn’t to be. 🙁
Now we have to wait until 2016 for the next two installments. I for one will be eagerly awaiting them! I highly recommend this book, and this series, to anyone who enjoys a sci-fi series, complete with aliens, evil military plots, and a knock-heads kind of love story.
