I recently began going through my writing file folders to see what I had lurking in there. It’s that time of the year when I order the new planner and begin to prepare my writing schedule for the coming year. After going through the computer and a few of my more recent thumb drives, I pushed around the random scraps of paper on my desk and the surrounding area, verifying that there weren’t vital plot bunnies there that I needed to input. As it turned out – there were plenty. But I didn’t have time to input one single damn thing, so I neatly stacked them so I could get to them next month. Or next year. We’ll see.
The first thing I considered was the fact that I’m in the middle of three series. Kiss of Leather is new, but Sin City Uniforms and The Hampton Road Club have had four releases each, with the fifth one in Sin City on early download now. Those folders are the ones I considered first and I rummaged in the scrap pile for little tidbits of ideas I’d randomly scribbled when musing on one of the characters who still needed their story told.
For anyone wondering, between now and end of 2016, I’ll only be doing two Hampton Roads, but I’ll follow those with two more in 2017. There’ll also be a short story for Michael and Javier, but I’ll explain more about that in next month’s post. And yes – Francesco and Theodore’s story will be told, I swear. I didn’t intentionally cut back on Hampton, there’s still men who need their ever afters, but I have other men out there who are tugging harder at my sleeve.
I have three Sin City Uniforms scheduled for 2016 – after the one that’s on download now. That one is SWAT officer Steve’s story. Then there’s Rich from the shelter and Jamal the paramedic on deck. Kiss of Leather has five additional installments planned between the end of this year and the next. Master Derek is up right now, with subs Tobey, Marshall and a few men not yet introduced upcoming.
There’ll be a few standalones as well, including the novel follow-up to Aubrey and Bryan’s story from Rockin’ the Alternative that was in the What’s His Passion? anthology. Yes – it’s finally finished, but won’t be out until June. That gives you plenty of time to read how they met *wink*. In addition to that, I’m planning on a WWII novel set in the Pacific territory, as well as the dystopian sci-fi follow-up to my Love’s Landscapes story, Soaring Past Death.
But I also have a brand new series in the works. As I was rooting around in my files, I found one from 2013 that intrigued me. I sort of remembered what it was about. It has sci-fi elements, but is also definitely dystopian since it’s set on earth. BDSM plays a significant role in it. And finally? It’s an MMM. While I’ve written all male menage scenes before, this will be the first series where all the MCs are in the menage and getting their HEA together. Oh, I guess I should also mention that there’s a touch of paranormal to it as well. *rubs hands together with glee* Not to be a big tease, but the first one doesn’t come out until September of next year.
So, how do I decide who gets to fall in love first? It’s not simple because I want to write about whoever I feel like at the time. Hence, the scraps of paper. Unfortunately, if I didn’t have a schedule and deadlines – I’d never complete anything. The scraps of paper and file folders allow me to write snippets about my lovers even when it’s not their turn yet. I’ll be back next month to tell you all about my new idea for my blog this coming year, and how it’ll mean that some of my guys who I never planned on giving an HEA will have their chance too.
Until then, Happy Autumn!
