Jeffrey Kuyper was a once-in-a-generation talent and I was his muse.
Jeffrey’s death shocked the art world and upended my life. His last portrait is an intimate reminder of our final weeks together. Now it’s up for auction and I want it more than anything. When a cold-mannered man in a dark suit outbids me, I’ll agree to anything to buy it from him–even a weekend in his bed.
REVIEW:
Gosh dangit this story was heartbreaking. I’m pretty sure I’ve never read a story quite like this one before. I really liked it, let’s get that out of the way and I definitely think most BDSM M/M fans would love it but I still fell the painful pings in my heart. I guess that’s probably a sign of having read a darn good story, if you still feel the effects hours later.
For years Oliver existed for only 1 thing. Be the inspiration to a quirky artist. Oliver’s sole identity was to be Jeffrey’s muse. Being a model Oliver is use to being seen in all sorts of scenarios. What he finds with Jeffrey is so much more than he ever imagined. Oliver hoped it would last forever…but tragedy strikes. Adrift for a year after the death of his love, protector, and master he doesn’t know who he is anymore.
A seemingly “chance” meeting with an art enthusiast leads Oliver on a path he isn’t prepared for but a journey he needs to make.
This short story is packed full of grief, pain, hope, beauty, kindness, compassion, lust, and the beginnings of something amazingly healing.
The writing is engaging and graphic. I loved all senses being engaged during the play time as well as the art appreciation moments.
I’d love to read more about Oliver and His Dark Collector. Seems like there will be more to their story…hopefully one day….recommend this one!
