As the sole offspring of the Democratic United States president and his political operative wife, Trevor Moga was raised in an environment driven by the election cycle. During childhood, he fantasized about living in a made-for-television family, and as an adult, he rejected all things politics and built a highly successful career as far from his parents as possible.
Newly elected congressman Ford Hollingsworth is Republican royalty. The grandson of a revered governor and son of a respected senator, he was bred to value faith, family, and the goal of seeing a Hollingsworth in the White House.
When Trevor and Ford meet, sparks fly and a strong friendship is formed. But can the billionaire son of a Democratic president build a family with the congressman son of a Republican senator? Forget politics, love makes strange bedfellows.
REVIEW:
Strange Bedfellows is about a Republican congressman named Ford who is gay and in the closet. Ford is so closeted that he is in his late thirties, but has never dared have a relationship with a man. The book begins when Ford has an anonymous hook-up with a man who he later discovers is the son of the president. Ford is anxious at first, worrying that the openly gay Democrat, Trever, will out him. However, when he learns he can trust Trevor, the two men hit it off. Since they don’t live close to one another, they make a point to get together whenever they can. Eventually, their mostly sexual relationship turns into something more serious and they realize they can’t hide their love any longer.
Although I absolutely loved the last book I read by Cardeno C, this book was not for me. I’m rarely the one to complain about sex, but this book had so much sex that I started to lose interest. I think what turned me off was that the book starts off with an anonymous sex scene, which develops into a fling that goes on and on without any real hint of romance until later in the book. To make matters worse, I didn’t find anything sexy about the language used in the sex scenes which came off as vulgar and sleazy. Despite being irritated by the relationship or lack of one, I was pleased with Ford’s character as well as the happy ending.
I believe the narration greatly contributed to my dislike of this book. The narrator read the sex scenes with a banal voice inflection, and the voice he used for Trevor was particularly irritating. Aside from the sex scenes, I thought the narration was very well done.

Thanks for the honest review. Cardeno has written a couple of my favorites. Her book Perfect Imperfections was heartwarming, romantic and the narration on the audio was one of the best M/M performances I’ve heard.
