Sometimes Riley and Jack have to be the ones to fight other people’s battles and stand up for what is right.
Faced with the life changing prospect of a yes vote from SCOTUS on the issue of same sex marriage, Riley and Jack realise they have decisions to make. Add in some distressing family news and the very real possibility that old secrets may resurface, and this last book in the Texas series pulls together as many threads as the boys can manage to handle.
But through all the ups and the downs, children, family events, laughter, and tears, there is nothing as special as the forever love between these two men.
REVIEW:
Awww…. such a sweet ending to a great series!
I don’t know how much to talk about as far as the background for this book. If you have read the series you know and love Riley and Jack and their whole family. If you haven’t read the other books… let’s see. This series centers around Riley Hayes and Jack Campbell. We have followed them for six books and several years, as they married, THEN fell in love, had lots of family drama, got married again, found kids, made kids, adopted kids, had more family drama… Anyway. Big, long, fantastic series. Lots of additional characters, lots of drama, etc., etc.
Texas Wedding is the series finale, and I am sorry to see it end, but I do think it’s time. I have enjoyed all of the books very much, but Riley and Jack need to live happily ever after and stop having so much drama in their lives! Sometimes I feel it’s become a bit soap opera-ish. So much happens to them and everyone around them throughout the series, and that continues with this book. We get glimpses of everyone we have met before, and I honestly had a hard time remembering who was who. There are a LOT of characters. Riley and Jack each have siblings, who have spouses or partners, some have kids, there are the guys that work on the ranch, some young men that needed rescuing in a past book, parents, co-workers, enemies who became friends or family…. the cast is just huge. I probably should have done a re-read before this one, I got a bit lost!
I feel like I’m rambling. I did like this book, but I went back and forth on my rating. The reason I went with four hearts was the plot rambles (somewhat like this review!). There are many things that happen, but there didn’t seem to be a lot of focus. I see why, we needed to get caught up with everyone we’ve seen before. But it was not as dramatic and big as some of the other books in the series have been. There is a lot happening, but it was a lot of mundane family things. Buying a dress for Hayley, taking a class on autism, having a family BBQ, things like that. There wasn’t an OMG moment. I wasn’t concerned for Riley and Jack, as a couple or for their lives. Nothing made me go “Oh shit!” Some of the other books in the series have had me very concerned! There has been many OMG moments, and “Oh shit!” moments. I missed that energy and tension in this one.
But it was a sweet easy story to read and enjoy. And I did enjoy it, just not quite as much as the others. I wanted to give it five hearts, and as the end to a fantastic series I could, but looking at it as its own book, it left me a little flat. Riley and Jack are still hot as hell in bed, or their barn, or the woods. I love them as a couple, and I love them as fathers and family men. I love the connection between them, I love the life they have built, I love their service to their family, and community. I love their family, both by birth and association. I think it’s a good book, but for me personally it wasn’t a GREAT book. If that makes sense. I said “Awww….” and “That’s sweet”, many times, but I didn’t say “Oh shit!” once.
So yeah, it’s a great ending to a great series. If you have read the others, you’ll love this one. If you haven’t read the series, you should. Go get the first one and settle in, they are as big as Texas, and lots of fun!

Thank you so much for the review, so pleased you enjoyed it.
I would recommend though to anyone reading this review that this book is not a standalone. It is book SEVEN in a series and given book 6 was out over a year ago it would be a good idea to refresh thoughts on the characters in the previous books. This way, what happens to the characters in book 7 becomes much more dramatic and meaningful.
