AUTHOR: Virginia Nelson
PUBLISHER: Samhain Publishing
LENGTH: 64 pages
BLURB:
When two delicious men are on the menu, skip the appetizer and go straight to dessert.
Carolyn Bannister lives the sweet life as co-owner and operator of a bakery with her two best friends. Small towns being what they are, though, she finds herself at a party one night, slinging back shots while trying to ignore the woman wrapped around her ex.
Grady Brooks and Ben Shipman have always taken care of their long time buddy, and tonight is no different. Though they’ve shared women in the past, they never considered getting sexually involved with Carrie—at least not out loud. Why not get back at her douche of an ex by playing into the long-time rumours about the three of them being involved in a relationship?
Any initial hesitation goes up in smoke when faked kisses get all too real. Though they break apart, everything has changed. Now neither Grady nor Ben can pretend they don’t want the one woman they’ve always loved.
But in this gossip-ridden town, it’s not as if the three of them can openly date. Or…can they?
Warning: Contains two men and one woman up to their apron strings in repressed sexual tension. Throw in battery-assisted phone sex, and something’s definitely rising. Not all the decadent treats in this story are edible, but they’re guaranteed piping-hot—and calorie free. “Batter” up!
REVIEW:
Carolyn Bannister has been best friends with Grady Brooks and Ben Shipman since they were kids and they’re still best friends now that they’re all grown up. They have been there for each other through everything life has thrown at them so far. Carolyn is in love with both Grady and Ben but she won’t ever risk their friendship for the sake of sex, what she doesn’t know is that both Ben and Grady are also in love with her. When they learn that Carolyn has split up with her latest douche of an ex they decide the time is right to declare their intentions.
It’s while they all at a party that Grady and Ben decide to take advantage of the fact that the entire town has always thought they were in a three-way relationship. When Carolyn’s ex Fickle Freddie, says something incredibly hurtful about her weight in front of a roomful of their friends they decide to give everyone a show but it backfires on Carolyn because both men are hard for her and ready to go! The only problem is that Carolyn runs away and then pretends it never happened. It takes a month before both men decide enough is enough and corner her in their bakery. Things get decidedly hot and heavy after they sit down and discuss what happened and where they want the partnership to go. They don’t want to just be partners with Carolyn in their bakery they want everything, a committed relationship between the three of them and they’re not going to take no for an answer.
Because they live in such a small town they have the normal issues with gossip and the usual fallouts’ within their group of friends. They all have to work out within themselves if a relationship is worth what turned out to be a lot more of everything than they thought it would be. Must Love Cakes is a well written, shortish, romance between three friends who are in love with each other and have to decide if the risk to their friendship and business is worth it and I have no hesitation in recommending it to all.
