TITLE: Locke’s Love
SERIES: Lakehouse Security, #4
AUTHOR: April Kelley
PUBLISHER: eXtasy Books
LENGTH: 72 pages
BLURB:
Danny Newell has loved Locke for six years. Every time they have to work together that love grows just a little bit more desperate. Of course, it would be easier if Locke gave him the time of day. When Danny gets a phone call late at night and goes out on a mission by himself, the last person he expects to go after him is Locke. Being stuck on a mission with a man that despises him is not his favourite thing, to say the least.
REVIEW:
Danny Newell is Lakehouse Security’s computer expert and he’s been in love with Locke for the last six years. Danny knows Locke doesn’t return his feelings, in fact as far as Danny can tell Locke hates him. Every time they see each other when Locke works for Lakehouse Security he’s cold, rude and dismissive towards Danny.
Unbeknownst to Danny, Locke has been in love with him for just as long! Unfortunately, because Locke was raised in foster homes his trust level isn’t very high. In fact one of the few people Locke trusts is his foster-brother Paulo. While Lakehouse Security is finishing up with the latest case they’ve been working on Locke has found the perfect way to keep tabs on Danny, he messages him every night on his computer, asking how he is. Once Danny tells him he’s fine Locke generally logs off because he doesn’t want Danny finding out it’s him. Danny just can’t be bothered to find out until the night he gets called out on a mission, although Danny doesn’t go on missions because he’s the “computer geek” he goes on this one because it involves a friend.
Locke can’t believe Danny went racing off in his own, they only go out in pairs or teams. Danny feels humiliated and pissed off that it’s Locke that comes out to help him with his mission. While they’re holed up in a motel room doing surveillance Danny has had enough of Locke’s silent treatment and calls him out over it. Locke is close-mouthed as per normal and Danny tells him that enough is enough he’s not waiting for Locke to notice him and he’s over unrequited love. Locke doesn’t like the sound of that and starts to respond to Danny in his own way. It takes Danny getting shot for Locke to really pay him attention and that’s when they start to talk, getting to know each other and Danny is incredibly surprised at how sweet, gentle and loving Locke is beneath his asshole exterior.
Danny doesn’t take any chances and asks Locke to move in with him as soon as they get back to his place. Locke is hesitant but agrees and then he has to cope with Danny’s brothers overbearing protectiveness. It has taken a six years but Danny finally gets his man!! I can’t recommend Locke’s Love and the Lakehouse Security series to enough people!
