Can missing a fatal flight be the wakeup call Harrison needs?
When Harrison Kelley is banned from getting on Flight HA1710, it seems to be the perfect ending to a crappy couple of days. Not only did he wreck a wedding, but he’s drunk way too much and been on the receiving end of the groom’s brother’s fists. Being escorted out of the airport by security was just the icing on the wedding cake.
Elijah Pettifer has lusted after Harrison from afar for years but Harrison never sees him as anything more than a friend. If he ever saw him at all. While attempting to defend what little honour Harrison has left, Elijah gets caught up in the wave of chaos surrounding his teenage crush. But missing his flight home because of Harrison’s mess might just be the luckiest thing to ever happen to him.
With a 24-hour ban imposed by the airport, and having only each other for company, the two men grow closer. But will the fate of the airplane they should have been on be the push Harrison needs to walk away from the toxic relationship of his past? And can Elijah make Harrison see exactly what he’s been missing out on because of it?
REVIEW:
Harrison Kelley has been in love with Antony since they were in high school and it took Antony getting married to Caroline to make him realise that all he’d ever been to Antony was a booty call, someone to call and have sex with when he was he in the mood. It never mattered to Antony who he slept with so long as he got what he wanted he was happy. What made it even worse for Harrison was the fact that Antony convince him to sleep with him after he was engaged to marry Caroline. After the buck’s night Antony ended up in Harrison’s room trying his everything to get Harrison to sleep with him because it really didn’t matter that he was getting married to someone else in the morning! Harrison stuck to his guns and spurned Antony’s advances until Antony fell asleep.
After the ceremony Harrison had to return Antony’s watch that he left in his room and found him coming out of the toilets with the barman. When Harrison said maybe someone needed to tell Caroline just what she’d married Antony threatened to tell her that Harrison had sex with him the night before because, what she didn’t know wouldn’t hurt her, right? And that right there everything died inside Harrison that was when he realised that he was never anything more than a convenient lay for Antony.
Elijah Pettifer was also at the wedding because they all went to school together and yes, even though he wasn’t in the same league as Antony and Harrison he was in their circle because they all played baseball together. Elijah knew all about Harrison and Antony but then again, there weren’t many people who didn’t know about them. It just happened that Elijah was madly in love with Harrison and had been since high-school the only thing wrong with that is the fact that Harrison didn’t even know Elijah was alive. He couldn’t believe that Harrison would sleep with Antony the night before the wedding though! When he finds out that there was no actual sex involved he feels his faith in Harrison’s decency has been restored but as it turns out he’s the only one who believes they didn’t have sex. As Harrison is giving back Antony his watch Caroline shows up and sees what Harrison has and puts two and two together and things go downhill from there.
After Caroline calls the marriage off and the entire group are heading back to the airport to go home Harrison has a few problems dealing with just how stupid and gullible he has been all these years so he heads to the nearest bar to start drinking and doesn’t stop until their flight is called. That’s when Antony’s older brother starts a fight with Harrison and Harrison gets kicked off the flight. Elijah can’t stand to see Harrison alone so he defers his flight to stay back with Harrison. As Elijah is helping Harrison work through his issues they completely miss the crash but it doesn’t come without its own guilt.
Because of the crash they end up spending several days in London before they’re able to leave but it’s during this time that Harrison really sees himself for the person he s and he realises that although he always had a blind spot where Antony is concerned it’s not no longer an issue, he will not be seeing or talking to Antony anytime soon. Meanwhile Elijah falls even more in love with Harrison and is only too happy to help him work through his issues. They make the decision to wait until they’re back in America and take things slowly. Although there is no sex in this book, yes I know! Shocking!! It doesn’t put any undue pressure on the story or characters. Fallout is a book I will be recommending to everyone.
