Hello, Love Bytes, thanks so much for hosting me! I am so honored to be here today to talk to you about some of the music that helped shaped my debut release, novelette “Percolation, Poetry, and Passion”! I like everything from alternative rock to ‘80’s New Wave, and I have been listening to “techno” since the late ‘90’s. Now that genre has refined into Trance, Progressive Trance, and the blanket term “Electronic Dance Music”, or EDM. When I’m writing, EDM is definitely my music of choice.

What I’ll be sharing with you today are five songs that started to stand out while I was writing this story. As it is with all EDM music for me, the sound and beat to them is what resonates most with me, but the lyrics can be very appropriate, too. CLMD vs Kish, featuring Fröder // The Stockholm Syndrome

This song has an awesome sound, and I can’t even tell you how many times I listened to it. Even though actual Stockholm Syndrome is NOT romantic, I think the lyrics to this song are. It reminds me of the scene on the book cover, too. Steve Angello featuring Dougy from The Temper Trap // Wasted Love

If the story had an anthem (for sound, not for theme, thank goodness) it would be this song. It’s beautiful, and one I fall in love with a little more each time I hear it. I think my MC, Simon, can relate to these lyrics very strongly. There’s also a hopefulness to the tone of the song that I think is very telling for Simon. It should be noted that the video’s cinematography is simply stunning. Bonus: The “New Player” at the very end is the mixing DJ Steve Angello. Kyla La Grange // Cut Your Teeth

Cut Your Teeth is something that I imagine would be playing in The Percolation Station, the coffee shop where Simon comes to write and my other MC, Beckett, works as a barista. It has that soulful, mysterious, thought provoking power that’s a lot like a good cup of coffee… Lyrics that relate to the story: Didn’t I say it slowly? Didn’t I make it clear? Is it unfair to ask you, Why it is you’re still here? // You cut your teeth on the lack of answers, and you, Come back home and it don’t feel the same, Well I, bled words onto a page for you, And you never knew my name

Lana Del Rey, DJ Cedric Gervais Remix // Summertime Sadness

Just a great song, no way around it. Since my MC’s do spend some quality time cruising around the coast in the Summer-time, it was a natural fit. This song is perfect, perfect, for: the date.
