There is underlying beauty in destruction….
Miah Thade, Finn Reese, and Ritchie Meyer are Resonator, an indie rock band with an edge—best friends turned rock stars, known as the Detroit 3. When Evin Rene appears in their life none of them can deny he belongs with Rez.
They may have named their first album Ruin Porn because people get off on seeing how Detroit went from deeply loved to thoroughly forsaken, but they’re determined to prove that blight isn’t the entire story and blight isn’t always ugly.
Ritchie, Miah, Finn, and Evin take Resonator to a level no one anticipates. But no prosperity comes without sacrifice, and no secret stays hidden without a trail of lies. As Rez’s fame grows, so does the intensity between two of its members…as well as their potential for destruction.
Evin and Finn are about to discover the underlying beauty in their ruin porn.
REVIEW:
Damn, Damn, Damn!!! This was emotional…heavy, deep…I’m drained. I wasn’t expecting all the emotions that this story evoked. Also it was edgy, gritty, and surprisingly dark…the homophobia, self doubt, self hate, lies, and betrayals hurt my heart. Sometimes with rockstar stories there’s a lot of fluff and no real depth. That is not the case with this book. There are so many issues that arise and the turmoil these men suffer just adds to the weight of the story. There’s not much that I didn’t truly enjoy in this book. SJD Peterson and SA McAuley are such amazing authors, respectively. Together they ROCKED it out…no joke!! Wow…this book had all the feels….bad and good…
Kevin Rene (Evin) gets the chance of a lifetime when he’s asked to become a 4th member to the up and coming band, Resonator. He jumps at the opportunity. Once they’re on tour, everything is working perfectly. He fits in with the guys and things are going so good, as long, as he doesn’t show his obvious attraction to his fellow guitarist, Finn. Evin has never hidden his orientation but lives on a not advertising it type of motto.
Finnegan Reese is a guitar playing genius. Resonator wouldn’t have gotten as far as they had if not for Finn’s obvious talent. He was completely on board with adding Evin to their band. What he wasn’t prepared for was the immediate attraction that Evin inspired. Finn has always known he was gay but his childhood best friend and lead singer, Jeremiah (Miah) wouldn’t be ok with it. So he hides his preferences. He knows getting involved with Evin would be bad, catastrophic if found out.
What transpires is…craziness, utter craziness. Evin and Finn suck at communication (my one real issue) but the feelings for each other are real and apparent. They both make poor choices and suffer the consequences but the light at the end of the tunnel is exquisite and so worth all the pain and suffering.
Like I mentioned there is a lot here, this is no fluffy rock star story. This is real in your face and friggin fantastic!!! This is obviously the start to an epic series and I’m really looking forward to book 2. Most would truly enjoy this story, highly recommend!!
