TITLE: Jerricho’s Freedom
AUTHOR: JC Wallace
PUBLISHER: Amber Quill Press
LENGTH: 324 Pages
BLURB:
Jerricho never expected to fall in love with Rex, the sexy, construction foreman, but he did. Too bad tradition forbids Jerry from marrying for love. Prince of the clandestine Anzuni demon clan, a Baelso (bearer of children), and a virgin at twenty-four, tradition dictates that Jerry marry a man chosen for him. Despite his soul-deep love for Rex, Jerry has no choice but to follow through with his obligation as prince and marry someone he doesn’t love.
But Jerry isn’t prepared for his dominant, aggressive fiancé who is interested in marrying him only for the future title of king. Facing the reality that he will lose his virginity to the cold man, Jerry flees to Rex for one night of passion. When Jerry finds himself pregnant with Rex’s baby, however, the actions of his enraged fiancé release Jerry from his marriage obligation.
But just when Jerry believes he will marry for love, he and Rex are ripped away from life as they know it. Betrayals, kidnappings, cruel experiments, pregnant men, and the reappearance of the Anzuni’s greatest enemy force Jerry and Rex to fight for their lives, their love, and their unborn child.
REVIEW:
The book was not what I was expecting that’s for sure. I was expecting a pedestrian story with an Mpreg storyline but what I got was the complete opposite. Talk about surprise! This book will totally surprise you. It starts off kind of normal; you have a guy, Jerricho, a rich and privileged but down to earth prince of the demons who just wants to be an independent, average Joe hanging out with his books and his buddy Keith until he has to take up his princely duties at twenty-five. He is in love with Rex, a foreman on the construction site Jerry works part time with his best friend Keith. Rex is comes into the library and spends time talking with Jerry about books and mythology on the weekends. Jerry and Rex have spent time together where Jerry works talking about mythology and books, getting to know each other. Their mutual attraction moved from friendship to them realizing their feelings for each other. Of course, Jerry feels he can’t have Rex because of his royal obligations.
Well, things don’t go as planned when one night of passion results in an unplanned pregnancy for Jerry. This of course pisses off Tyranis, his chosen fiancé who reacts badly to this. This releases him from his marriage contract but sets in motion a series of events that you will not see coming.
It’s at this time the story gets even more interesting. Jerry is betrayed by those he trusted most and the ones who he didn’t trust are not as evil as you originally thought they were. There are so many twists and turns in this story you won’t know what to make of it. I do know that the twists and turns and surprises in this story will keep you on your toes and the pages turning.
I loved every word of this story; I enjoyed every second of every minute of reading this book. The characters were fabulous. I particularly liked how the author made the demons more human than demon. They has no super powers or
super human strength or anything like that. The only things that placed them apart from the human population were the horns and tails.
I particularly loved the relationships of the characters. Rex and Jerry’s love for each other was an absolute delight to read as was Keith and Gunn’s relationship. Keith and Jerry’s friendship ran deep; they were more like brothers than best friends and I loved reading their interactions with each other and Jerry’s relationship with his parents—his father particularly, was touching to read. If you didn’t know better, you would think you were reading about a bunch of humans instead of demons. The story ended on a note of hope but I think—okay, I hope—okay, I’m begging for a sequel to this story. I want to know more about Jackos and Lanzo; if they’re going to ever going to find the other missing Brazelas. I want to know if they’re going to find poor Eli alive. I want to read about how Keith and Gunn’s relationship developed and how it unfolds post kidnapping.
I definitely recommend you pick this book up. It’s chock full of surprises.
