You can build a team, but you have to find your home.
Rupert Smythe is fond of many things. Callum Morrison isn’t one of them.
Rupert is a quiet, thoughtful business man and, sadly, a total wimp. Maybe not the ideal candidate to run a professional hockey team, but he signed on to do it anyway. As his life has reminded him on an almost daily basis since, this isn’t the most brilliant idea he’s ever had. And that was before Callum showed up.
Being in the spotlight is just part of being a professional athlete, but Callum needs a break. He arrives in Moncton unannounced, determined to help grow the team he just bought, and under the assumption he’d be welcome. Possibly he should have tried to make a better first impression.
Callum figures he can push through the rest of the summer, never expecting two kids, a host of friends, and his growing feelings for Rupert to derail everything he has ever believed about what he wanted, and what he could have.
REVIEW:
Well, this my friends is what I’m talking about. This story was put together so incredibly well. At first I will admit it dragged a bit for me. The tension between Callum and Rupert was decadent and apparent from the beginning. But it does take quite a bit for them to get together, which is a sort of delicious torture only because this story is so well written you want to keep going. You keep turning each page, eagerly, willingly because the writing refuses you any other option.
Callum Morrison is a goalie for a professional hockey team. Recently he’s signed on as part owner of a Canadian hockey team. Knowing the team and facility needed a major overhaul Callum finds himself spending his offseason in Canada getting his new team worked out. What he doesn’t anticipate is the team’s new manager, Rupert Smythe and all the feelings he inspires.
Rupert is an out and proud English Lord and gentleman. An opportunity arises and he jumps at the chance to manage a Canadian hockey team. Out of his element he stumbles a bit but is very confident in his abilities as a manager and businessman.
These two’s initial meeting is nothing less of combative. They do not like each other and that fact is very evident. But the attraction is still there, under the surface waiting to explode all over these two….and when it does….HOT DAMN…yessssss!!! WOW….we wait for it…we work for it…and DAMN it was worth every stankin’ moment.
There’s A LOT going on here….homophobia, shame, a closet case with h0uge issues, surprise parenting, amazing support, and incredible love. I think that was what made this story so special. The love and support from the most unexpected sources was really touching and moving. I won’t even discuss how disgustingly sweet and perfect the ending was….it was EVERYTHING!!!!
Samantha Wayland is a new to me author and I feel lucky to have stumbled across this story. Without a doubt I will seek out this author in the future. This story is too good to pass up…I highly recommend it…!!!
