He demands his submissive’s body and soul…but can he accept his sub’s heart?
Roddy Green never planned to fall in love and certainly not with his Dom, but every time he goes into Darkness, a fetish club, he falls for Vegas all over again. Being in love isn’t the same as being loved in return. Vegas is there to do a job—not to build a romance. But what if the main constant in Roddy’s life is also the one person he can’t live without?
Andrew Vegas knows his job. He’s a Dom. But there is more than one side to him and he’s tired of keeping the other parts of him hidden. One man makes him feel safe and comfortable enough to open up—his pet, Roddy. But will Roddy, the producer of a local news broadcast, want to be with a man with secrets?
Review:
BDSM is a particular favorite genre of mine and so I was happy to pick up this book for review.
Roddy is a man who lives a high stress life and finds relief in his visits to Darkness, the club his Dom, Andrew, works at. At least that’s how it started out. But something about Andrew calls to Roddy’s heart and mind and his reasons for going aren’t so clear any more.
Andrew hasn’t had a lot of relationships in his life, beyond the sub/Dom ones at the club. But there isn’t anything about Roddy that doesn’t appeal to him and he can’t help but yearn for more with him.
I liked this story. Roddy and Andrew are men who are easy to connect with and it wasn’t hard to cheer them on to their eventual happy ending.
Roddy’s whole life seems to revolve around his job and his need for something more is easy to understand. Andrew has a big heart that he tries to keep hidden until the control is taken from him.
There’s nothing really surprising about this story but it’s an easy ready, that had a good pace. I didn’t get bored half way through and while it didn’t light me on fire, it was a pretty good story.
If I have one complaint it’s more about the genre in general and I’m tired of women being the villains in so many m/m stories, especially as so many are written by women themselves. I’d love to see a good, supportive woman in the role of a friend more often.
The sex in this story is hot and I love the feeling of playfulness in some of them, because I truly believe that laughter should be a part of your sex life.
Like I said, there’s nothing particularly outstanding about this story, but if you’re looking for something that has interesting characters, a decent storyline that doesn’t feel rushed and a good, old-fashioned happy ending, this is the kind of book that you can read curled up on a rainy afternoon and it will leave you with a smile.
