This is a Series Review of The Tinder Chronicles
AUTHOR: Alexa Land
PUBLISHER: Self-Published
SERIES REVIEW:
For those of you whose only exposure to Alexa Land’s writing has been through the Firsts and Forever series, I’m about to introduce you to a totally different Ms. Alexa Land. For those of you who have read Feral, or saw my recent review of that book, you will understand where I’m going with this.
The Tinder Chronicles is not a sequel to Feral, but the two works are very much tied together. The characters from Feral appear several times throughout the three installments in this series. This series is primarily about vampires and vampire hunters. Before you say “oh no…another vampire book”, sit back and listen to what I’m about to say. This is NOT one of those tired, overworked “glittery vampire” books, nor is it one of those vampire books where throats are being torn out on every page. It is the story of a young vampire hunter, born into a family who have been vampire hunters for generations.
What happens when the vampire hunter meets a vampire who is married to a human? And what happens when he next figures out he has feelings for another vampire who has been his nemesis for years? I’ll tell you what happens. Some odd love stories…with romance, hot sex and some HEAs. Along the way there will be killing, blood, battles and deaths, but there will also be cuddling.
I very highly recommend this series. Best of all, it is all in one book! When Ms. Land wrote the full length book Destined, she re-edited and included free the two novellas Tinder and Hunted. Take my advice, for less than the price of a lot of Kindle books, you get three in one volume. Hit one click today….you won’t be sorry. And tell me if you agree with me that Ms. Land needs to write more books like these!

TITLE: Tinder
LENGTH: 65 Pages
BLURB:
I’ve been a vampire hunter all my life. Usually, the job’s pretty straightforward: find a vamp and kill it, while staying alive in the process. But things have been getting weird lately. The vamps have started hunting in packs, which is almost unheard of. And they’re up to something at an old warehouse down by the Port of Long Beach. Then there’s the daywalking vamp that I came across. None of that should be happening, and I need answers.
I usually work alone. But with all the strange stuff that’s been going on, I’ve begun teaming up with fellow hunter Lee Halstrom, a hot Texan that occasionally makes me forget what a bad idea it is to mix business and pleasure. And then there’s Bane. For years the mysterious vampire has been circling me, but never going in for the kill. All of a sudden, he’s putting himself right in the middle of my business. I need to find out what game he’s playing…either that, or I could just end him.
REVIEW:
Tinder is the story of a twenty one year old guy named Tyler. Tyler hasn’t been called Tyler since he was a kid, when his brother nicknamed him Tinder because he was always so quick to anger. Tinder is a true vampire hunter. Because he comes from a long line of vampire hunters, on both sides of his family, he has the ability to see colors around humans and vampires. Humans are a pretty pink, vampires are a bright white.
Things get strange when he and fellow hunter Lee, his sometimes (always the last time) sex partner, team up to follow a group of five vampires with the humans the vampires have compelled. They find a warehouse full of vampires. If it wasn’t for Bane, a vampire that has been bothering Tinder for years, Tinder probably wouldn’t have gotten out alive. But did he have to use one of Tinder’s own stakes to stake him to the wall!
The next day things get even weirder when he sees a vampire and a human family….in the sun….at the boardwalk…acting like everything is normal! What the hell? If you’ve read Feral by Ms. Land, you will recognize the characters of Nicolai and Nathaniel from that book. What will happen when Tinder follows them home and realizes they are living as a married couple?
And I’m not even going to mention the hotness between Bane and Tinder…but I’m surprised one of them didn’t burst into flame!
I loved this first installment, and can’t wait to start the next one! Just a quick note, the individual story is no longer available, but I liked the cover so included it! 🙂
RATING:
TITLE: Hunted
LENGTH: 70 Pages
BLURB:
Tinder’s whole world is unraveling. The young vampire hunter was always at a huge disadvantage against his infinitely stronger and faster enemies. And now that the vamps have started teaming up and coming after him, his chances of survival are looking grim.
As he goes from hunter to hunted, one of his only allies is Bane. But can Tinder trust the gorgeous, mysterious vampire? The two share a complicated history, and sleeping with Bane was such a mistake…though the overwhelming attraction between the two of them might make some mistakes worth repeating.
REVIEW:
I’m loving this series more and more. In Hunted we continue the story of Tyler “Tinder” Reynolds, the young man we met in Tinder.
Something is wrong, vampires seem to be suddenly recognizing Tinder on the streets! And they are hunting in teams. What will happen when a large group of them trap Tinder on a rooftop in the warehouse district? When Bane takes him captive, will things heat up? No spoilers, but yes, wow.
In this installment we have bands of vampires hunting for the hunters, some narrow escapes, some pretty darned hot sex, and hunters on the run! I can’t wait to start the third and final section! Oh wait, I don’t have to, now do I? 😉 Again, this story is no longer available individually, but I liked the cover!
RATING:
TITLE: Destined
LENGTH: 151 Pages
BLURB:
Tinder’s world is black and white, good and evil clearly defined. The young vampire hunter was taught to hate his enemy with a passion, and hating them is easy since they killed his entire family. His attraction to Bane, a gorgeous, mysterious vampire, contradicts everything Tinder believes in, but the heat between them is undeniable. As the vampires rise up and hunters become the hunted, Bane may also be Tinder’s only chance for survival. Maybe the world’s not so black and white after all.
REVIEW:
Destined brings this series to a close. I wish it wasn’t so! But Ms. Land very neatly wrapped everything up in the last few pages and closed out all the story lines. 🙁
In this installment of the three book series, we again follow Tinder, who is now pretty firmly involved with Bane, enough so that he is now calling Bane by his real name of August. But what are the two to do, there is a looming war between the vampires and the hunters. The hunt is increasing and no one on either side is safe. It all comes down to a mysterious silver eyed vampire named Lucian. Who is he, and why is he organizing the vampires? And just where are all these vampires coming from?
Along with the storylines from previous installments, we also have a big feisty vampire/werewolf who latches onto Tinder, we have a shy young vamp named Ty who also latches onto Tinder (but in a parent sort of way), and we have a couple very jealous men fighting over Tinder. It would seem Tinder is in demand!
I loved the way book ended. We have HEAs for all, something that Ms. Land always seems to have in her books. Don’t get me wrong HEAs are good! We tie up the stories of everyone, including Nate and Nicolai from Feral. I’ll be sad to see them all go. 🙁
RATING:
Well Dan, it’s official. You’ve now read and reviewed every single thing I’ve written! 🙂 I couldn’t be more thankful that you took the time to review Tinder and my other books. I know you brought my work to the attention of a lot of new readers, and I’m so grateful to you!
Here’s a little bit of Tinder trivia. You may know that I do all my own covers, including these. For this series, I also carved and photographed my own wooden stake, LOL! It appears beneath the title. I was cracking up when I was out in the backyard whittling that thing. How many people get to do something that silly for their job? 🙂
Many thanks again, Dan!
