Lovebytes guestpost

Hi Skye, thank you for agreeing to join us today. Tell us a little about yourself, your background, and your current book.

Thanks for having me 🙂

I am a fairly newly published author in the romance genre, although I have been writing for years. I write paranormal and contemporary M/M, M/F, and M/M/F romance.

Claimed by Desire is book two in the Wild Hunters series but can be read as a standalone.

Give us ten tips for becoming a better writer.

I feel a bit strange doing this as I’m newly published and I strive to be a better writer every day – so these are all tips I try to use myself and that I have learned from others.

  1. Finish a story. I wrote romance for about three years before I ever finished a story. Then I read something that really stuck with me. It said ‘if you can’t finish a story, you aren’t a writer’. So I finished a story!
  2. Write most days – I’ve read people who say every day, but this isn’t possible for all of us. But yes, write most days. Write every week at least if you can. Make it a regular habit.
  3. Join a critique group or find someone to swap your work with. If you don’t have a crit group, or partner, I think it is harder to improve as a writer.
  4. Read, read, and read. I read most days. Always have. Reading is like breathing to me. It’s an essential part of my life.
  5. Get to know other writers and soak up their knowledge like a sponge!
  6. Buy books on writing and practice your craft.
  7. Have a good dictionary to hand!
  8. Take a lot of baths (okay, this tip might be my own and not one stolen from my betters). Baths are great places to dream up new stories.
  9. Don’t talk too much about your writing. I’ve learned that talking about a work in progress too much steals its soul. I need to keep it within me so it can grow and grow until it all comes out on the page.
  10. If you are stuck, and cannot find a way forward with your story, one tip that worked for me was to write something else – anything else – just to keep on writing. Let the other story sit a while and work on other things, could be a blog post, or a diary entry. Just keep on writing.

love bytes excerpt

“Turn around.” Dylan’s low voice echoed in the bathroom.

He did as instructed, skin goose bumping in the chill air. Thick fingers touched either side of his torso and gently pressed down into his lower back. “Does it hurt?”

He shook his head.

“Turn back around.”

He faced the front and watched as Dylan moved large hands over his torso, gentle but firm. He pressed a little more on the right hand side. “What about here? Hurt at all?”

“No.” He exhaled a shaky breath. No matter how much he told his dick not to take interest in the proceedings, he became more and more aroused at every touch.

Then Dylan did something so strange it snapped him out of his fog of desire. The man leaned in towards Aeron and sniffed him.

“Jesus.” Aeron took a step back, butting up against the sink behind him. “Did you just smell me?”
