TITLE: Coming Home
SERIES: Firsts and Forever #9
AUTHOR: Alexa Land
PUBLISHER: Alexa Land
LENGTH: 283 Pages
BLURB:
For twenty-six-year-old rent boy Chance Matthews, surviving day-to-day in San Francisco is difficult enough. Then an ill-fated road trip to Wyoming to search for his biological father throws his life into a tailspin. When a string of catastrophes leaves him stranded and desperate, help comes from the last person he’d expect. His knight in shining armor is everything he could want and then some, but Chance is sure a man like that would never want someone like him. That’s the stuff of fairy tales, and he stopped believing in those a long time ago.
REVIEW:
I received the review copy of this book while I was at Rainbow Con in Tampa this weekend. The fabulous Ms. Alexa Land was there as well. I had to tell her the next morning that I wasn’t sure I liked her much anymore….since I was up half the night eagerly flipping the pages on my Kindle. Be warned! Here there is danger. You won’t be able to put it down, so clear your schedule!
I’m a huge fan boy of this series, and was so happy to meet the author this weekend. As those of you following along will remember, I’ve reviewed all the books in the series over the last 9 or 10 weeks, and I’ve raved about all of them. Book 9 is no exception!
I’ve been eagerly awaiting Chance’s story. Chance is a rent boy in San Francisco, which at first might seem similar to the story of Christopher Robin in an earlier installment. However, unlike Christopher Robin, Chance didn’t come from money. He ran away from home when his mother sided with his molester when he was fourteen. Since then he has been on the streets of San Francisco plying his trade. Chance is also a blooming photographer, but hasn’t yet gained the confidence to give up the rent boy gig. He makes a lot of money, and most of it he still sends home to his mother and younger brother…even though his mother threw him away.
Chance needs to go home. He hasn’t been back in twelve years, and the time is now. What will he find on the dusty and run down old family homestead? Will he also be able to find his long lost father who he never knew? What will happen when things go completely to crap while he is Wyoming? When he loses everything, who will be there to save him?
Ms. Land has done it again. Another great chapter in this ever lengthening saga. Each book is billed as a stand-alone. My advice, while they could easily be stand-alone, it helps to read the previous books as well. That way you will understand why my favorite character of the series is Nana Dombruso! Love this old lady and would so like to hang out with her for a while! But don’t take me wrong, the men in this series are all super special in their own right. I haven’t found a character, even background character, that I haven’t loved in the series.
I highly recommend Chance’s story. I expect you will love it as much as I did, and then you will be eagerly awaiting the next book with me! I can’t wait to read about Nico, Nana and Jessie’s trip to Italy, so please Ms. Land…don’t make us wait too long for book ten! To the readers out there…I suggest you buy the series today, and get caught up!
