Bound and Bonded Book 5
(Can be read as standalone)
Everyone at the Bound and Bonded Club, and the Washington Pack believes that Roger has never wanted to have a mate because he is too busy having fun with the variety of subs the club has as members. No one knows that Roger did in fact meet his mate, ten years before. Problem was, the boy was literally that, only twelve years old, and Roger left him alone thinking his mate would be safe in his home pack until he was ready to settle down. He was wrong.
Cameron Slater didn’t want to be born an Omega wolf, especially not in a homophobic pack. When he was kicked out after his first shift, he spends two years on the streets before being taken in someone calling himself Master Donoghue. Four years later and Cam was wishing for death – anything would be better than having to service his sadistic Master and his sick friends.
A rescue mission, rabid vampires with a taste for Omega blood, and an overly possessive sub are just some of the obstacles standing in the way of an HEA for these two men. Is being Fated Mates enough to withstand the storm, or will Cam be dead before he and Roger have a chance to build a life together?
Warnings – this is a gay shifter true mate story. Includes BDSM references although no actual scenes, reference to past abuse, a sweet Alpha wolf who will do anything for his mate, and a poor Omega too afraid of his own shadow half the time and who just wants acceptance.
REVIEW:
WOO-FREAKING-HOO! This book made me so happy!
I love a shifter story, I love a shifter story with a big wolf and a little wolf, I love a shifter story with a big wolf and a little wolf where the little wolf has been abused or injured. I love a story with a big wolf and a little damaged wolf, where the big wolf heals the little wolf with his magic sex and love….
So this was right up my alley. I have read the other books in this series, I’ve liked them but have had issues with the poor editing.
I am very happy to say I LOVED THIS BOOK! The plot was exactly what I love in a shifter book. Big werewolf Roger, an enforcer for the Washington pack, finally decides to look for his mate. He met him ten years ago, but his mate was a 12 year old boy and Roger took off, giving Cameron a chance to grow up and experience life. Unfortunately Roger can’t find anything about Cam, and he’s understandably concerned. Pearson, the Alpha of the pack finds Roger in a funk, gets the story out of him, and calls in reinforcements. The men we have met in the previous books all step up to help Roger find Cam. Which they do, but he’s being held in a BDSM club by a human in New York. A plan is developed and off they all go to rescue Cam.
Cam is one fucked up man. When he first shifted at 15, it was apparent that he was an Omega wolf, a male, gay Omega wolf. So his Alpha raped him, beat the shit out of him, and dumped him at the edge of their pack lands. He made it to New York, lived on the streets, was rescued by a nasty piece of work, and has been abused and used ever since. He shifted one time at 15, and hasn’t since. He’s now 22. He’s been beaten so many times he has scars on his back, and a high pain tolerance. He’s scared and alone. Until he is rescued by a bunch of wolves, then he’s even more scared. Wolves have only done bad things to him.
So Roger finally gets ahold of Cameron, and the healing starts. And this is when my love for this book kicked in. A damaged, submissive, Omega shifter? Love it! I loved Roger’s careful handling of Cameron. He’s so gentle and sweet, but also strong. He defends Cam when others in the pack look down on him, not understanding his situation. He treats him so gently, feeding him, cleaning him, walking him through his first real shift… it all just melted my heart! I loved the plot, I loved Cameron and Roger, it was nearly perfect. My only issue with the plot is Roger falls for the dumbest, most obvious thing ever. I did not buy it at all. I like what this thing lead to, a nice bit of drama, but there is a thing that happens that had me rolling my eyes.
Let’s talk about the writing quality. 95% better than anything I have read from this author before! I’ve liked Lisa Oliver’s other books, but they have mostly been 3.5 heart ratings for me, due to the poor editing, and the use of non-American words and phrases. This book was soooooo much better! Seriously better. Still a typo here and there, the big one was a misuse of you’re in place of your, but I can totally look past that. I am so happy with this one! The plot was great, the writing was great, the editing was almost great, I loved the characters, the sex was sweet and hot, it was just an excellent story!
If you have read the others in this series, I can’t wait for you to read this one. It is so great. If you haven’t, you could probably read this one as a standalone. The characters from the previous books are in it, but I don’t think you’ll miss huge amounts by not knowing their stories. I would read them, I liked them just fine, but be prepared for some issues. This one did not have any of those issues though, it was so good!
Yeah! Can’t wait for the next one!
