BLURB:
Brett is a government scientist on the run because the people he works for want to use his research about realms and other worlds for their own gain. He escapes with the help of his uncle, only to find a man falling from the sky in a ball of flame and feathers after being shot down by the very people he himself is running from.
Iron is a warrior guardian to the rightful king of Angelum, but was forced to flee his home realm with his king after a coup for the throne. There is a bounty on his head and the last thing he needs is to be almost captured by the human military that want to cage and experiment on him.
Iron cannot resist the tempting human that saves him and, when they give in to the heat between them, they accidentally trigger the irrevocable mate bond. Both of them are running from something, but they may just discover that each of them is exactly what the other needs.
REVIEW:
Brett was almost to the cave his uncle had set up as a hideout for him after he escaped from the sector of the government that had been holding him prisoner for years, when his car decided to stop. He couldn’t believe it, the military were right behind him and his car decides to die! As he was looking under the hood he sees a falling out of the sky and it’s on fire. When he identifies it as a male, a winged male, Brett doesn’t know what to do with him he can’t just leave him there. He gets him to his car and thankfully it decides to start. When Brett gets to the hidden tree that marks the start of the track he rigs up a trolley to pull the winged male up the side of the mountain to the hidden cave. Once there he sets about cleaning the blood, burnt feathers and everything else off the male.
When Iron wakes up in a strange cave with a strange human he’s enraged when he can’t feel his wings, he thinks the human has cut them off! After threatening the human only to find out it’s the result of a painkiller he decides to let him live. When he stops to listen he realises that there is nothing to hear and wants to know if the human is one of the ones that shot him out of the sky. When he finds out that Brett is also running from the military they start talking and Brett discovers that Iron can manipulate energy from his namesake to promote healing. He is also the sworn warrior guardian to the true line of the Angelum throne. When Iron discovers that Brett is on the run from his government because he discovered irrefutably that you can move between realms he gets excited because he and the other Angelus that are stuck on Earth have been trying to find a way back to Angelum.
Iron realises that Brett is attracted to him which is good because he’s incredibly attracted to him. When Brett tries to heal Iron’s wings, Iron decides to use sexual energy to promote healing. He can’t believe the amount of energy Brett and he made, he’s completely healed and his energy reserves are completely filled. Unbeknownst to Iron while they got carried away making love to Brett he triggered the irrevocable mate bond by ingesting each other’s blood when they split their lips kissing. It’s when Iron has to delve into Brett’s mind to see if they are in fact mated that he unfortunately shares with him the fact that since he has been on Earth not only has he but all of the Angelus have had to have sex multiple times a night every night to make enough energy to mask the youngest member, the king’s brother who hasn’t yet developed his wings, because of this he puts out so much energy that the hunters could easily find them. Brett can feel the shame washing through Iron when he explains.
Brett’s uncle arrives and they arrange to fly back to the Angelus’ hideaway. When they get there, there’s a bit of a power struggle between Brett and the King, the king doesn’t want a human near his Iron and Brett doesn’t want the king near his Iron! There are a lot of hurt, devastated feelings when the King has to accept the fact that Brett really is Iron’s mate and Brett has to accept the fact that now that they’re mated and bonded Iron will not ever leave him. I have to say that Iron Angel is a great first book in what I’m sure is going to be a fantastic series. I have no hesitations in recommending this book to one and all.
