SERIES: Summer Bigger Than Others Anthology
AUTHOR: Victoria Milne
PUBLISHER: Beaten Track Publishing
LENGTH: 51 pages
BLURB:
Charlie’s furious when a burger truck begins trading in the country lane outside his strawberry farm and encroaches upon his business. What makes it worse is that the infuriating owner refuses to move, claiming he’s found the perfect spot on the English coast to spend his summer.
But when Charlie’s friends from the city show up and are convinced that Tai, the bold American chef, and Charlie should be attracted to one another, the farmer is left with no option than to grudgingly go along with his friends’ plans to set them up.
His world is rapidly turned into bedlam when disaster strikes, forcing the reticent farmer to make a decision that will affect both his and Tai’s summer, and will either bring them together or permanently drive them apart.
REVIEW:
Tai is a qualified chef from America and he’s decided to open his own burger truck in English countryside for the summer and when he finds the strawberry farm with the quirky name Pound Bottom Farm, well, this is exactly where he needs to be for the summer!
When Charlie looks towards the front of his farm and sees a burger truck parked and set up for business he sees red! After Charlie confronts the infuriating owner Tai, demanding he leave and being told no, that he’s found the perfect spot to spend his summer. When Tai actually meets farm owner Charlie face to face, he’s smitten! Once Charlie see’s Tai, wow! he’s gorgeous but he won’t let that sway him.
Tai manages to charm Charlie into agreeing to let him pick strawberries for smoothies to go along with his burgers. Charlie’s friends turn up at the farm for a visit once they see the sparks between Charlie and Tai they decide to do a little matchmaking. Whilst out on their not date with his friends, Charlie gets very drunk so much so that Tai decides to walk him home. They go via one of Charlies ‘shortcuts’ and end up at the beach, after a hot make-out session on the sand and a power nap, Tai wakes Charlie to get going. As Charlie gets closer to his place he notices a fire and it’s coming from the burger truck! It’s too late to save anything in the truck and Tai is devastated as that is all his money gone. Charlie lets Tai set up his burger business out of the farm-house kitchen seeing as he doesn’t use it all that much.
Summer flies buy and before they know it it’s time for Tai to go home, Charlie wants to ask him to stay but should he? Tai wants to stay but he doesn’t know if Charlie wants him to! Read the book to find out whether Tai stays or goes, The Strawberry Farm is definitely one short story you will want to read!!
