TITLE: Waking Up in Vegas
SERIES: Summer Bigger Than Others Anthology
AUTHOR: Hunter Frost
PUBLISHER: Beaten Track Publishing
LENGTH: 64 pages
BLURB:
Officer Reed Weston has come to expect the unexpected during the graveyard shift in the City of Sin. But this time, its Reed’s partner who throws him for a loop, using him as bait to get a drunk Midwesterner safely back to his hotel. Reed goes along with his partner’s plan only because he’s too tired to argue, not because the attractive law-breaker is easy on his weary eyes.
After waking up hung-over and ashamed of his behaviour (the little that he remembers), Grant Carroll wants to make amends. Partying until he literally drops just to forget his no-good ex is not who he is at all. Treating the gruff officer that escorted him home to an apology lunch, Grant soon realizes Reed has everything his ex doesn’t―compassion, intelligence, and gigantic biceps.
Gambling has never been either of their strong suits, but taking a risk on each other may come with the best payoff yet.
REVIEW:
Officer Reed Weston is tired, he’s got about an hour left of his graveyard shift and all he wants is to go home to bed! Reed and his partner are waiting in line to get a cold drink when the owner asks them to check on a drunk customer who has fallen asleep leaning against the wall. When they wake up Grant Carroll to make sure he’s okay Grant can’t believe how good-looking policemen are in Vegas! When Grant refuses to go back to his motel Reeds partner decides to use Reed as bait, he saw how Grant reacted to his partner so he tells Grant Reed will give him a kiss if he goes with them back to his motel. Reed wants nothing to do with the idea. It soon becomes apparent he’s going to have to agree just to get Grant moving. Luckily for Reed, Grant is asleep before his head hits the pillow.
When Grant wakes up the next morning he’s absolutely mortified by the way he behaved. When he finds Reeds card with a note to call he decides he may as well get his apology over with. When Reed agrees to let him take him to lunch he can’t believe how badly he acted the night before he had stamps from a lot of nightclubs, thankfully he doesn’t really remember a great deal about what happened! As they’re eating lunch Grant discovers that Reed is also coming to terms with the fact that his ex is nothing more than a cheating asshole and he has everything his ex doesn’t compassion, intelligence and huge biceps! Both Reed and Grant are insanely attracted to each other but Grant is only in Vegas for the weekend. After spending the weekend in bed having the hottest, most satisfying sex they can ever remember they both realize they need to assess whether they’re prepared to take the biggest gamble of their lives and take a risk on each other.
Waking Up in Vegas is a very engaging short story about two heartbroken men who are at different stages of getting over their ex’s. I have no hesitation in recommending this book to all who have a love for m/m romance.
