TITLE: Belonging
SERIES: Firsts and Forever #8
AUTHOR: Alexa Land
PUBLISHER: Alexa Land
LENGTH: 252 Pages
BLURB:
Can two damaged men build a future together from the shattered pieces of their lives?
Gianni Dombruso’s life was altered forever at the age of four, when his parents were murdered and he and his brothers went to live with their grandmother, the irrepressible Nana Dombruso. Now almost thirty, Gianni has spent his life bouncing from relationship to relationship, seeking but never finding the security and stability he so desperately craves.
Alexzander Tillane was one of the biggest pop stars in the world when he walked away from it all in the middle of a concert in 2002. Almost destroyed by the pressure of fame, Zan retreated to a life of quiet solitude in an effort to heal. But the cure backfired, leaving him with more issues than answers.
Zan knows he can’t give Gianni the stability he’s looking for, not with all his problems. He can’t even imagine why the beautiful younger man would want to get involved with someone so damaged, but the heat between them can’t be ignored. Giving in to it could be a huge mistake. Or maybe both men might end up right where they belong.
REVIEW:
I sooo predicted this couple. As I’ve mentioned countless times, I never read blurbs ahead of time, and that went for the eight books I’ve reviewed to date in this series. I just knew these two would be a couple. I will admit Ms. Land threw me off in the beginning of this book with the supposedly hot movie star sniffing around, but I was right in the end!
Those of you who’ve been reading along with this series will remember Gianni Dombruso. He is the youngest brother of Dante and Nico, and has quite the reputation for dating older men, and older women, although he does prefer the dick. Gianni is now on the 29/30 cusp and realizing his life has little or no meaning. He believes he is nothing better than the gigolo that some of his relatives think he is.
Gianni is still taking care of the shopping, etc. for Christian’s father Zan. As you remember from book eight, Against The Wall, Christian’s health crisis led him to hire Gianni to take care of Zan in his absence.
Alexzander Tillane (Zan) is a reclusive former rock superstar. Thirteen years previously he walked off a stage in LA in the middle of a concert, and he hasn’t been seen in public in that entire time. Rumors of his death, drug addiction and imprisonment are grossly incorrect. He is just sitting in his house, in his den, closing the world out.
The story of these two broken men moving past their individual troubles to come to depend on each other was an interesting read. I really liked the characters, and I love how Ms. Land wraps up former book stories in later books. This one provides some closure on a couple different couples from previous books, and the end of the book gives us a hint of the next couple books coming down the road. And of course, don’t forget Nana. She’s back with more hilarious antics.
I for one will be waiting anxiously for the new book in the series coming in August!
I highly recommend this entire series! I’m pretty sure it may be my favorite “feel good” m/m romance series!
