Welcome Michael 🙂
Title: Sequestered Hearts
Author: Michael Kudo
Publisher: Self-Published
Publication Date: 6/09/15
Genre: M/M Alternate History Romance
Word Count: 63,600
Blurb:After the Riots at Stonewall, a major political movement took place which resulted in Gays/Lesbians becoming slaves.
Colton Taylor was born with every advantage – except parents who are there for him. His father and mother are constantly absent because they’re too busy keeping up on the family business, and when they are around they nitpick at him and make him feel like he’s only a tool to further their legacy.
Colton has no problems with the slaves his family owns. He doesn’t care if they’re gay or lesbian; to him they’re just people. One day he meets an interesting slave named Oliver, and the two hit it off. Eventually they start hanging out (in secret) and a relationship blossoms.
Colton knows if his father was to ever find out it would spell trouble but he can’t stay away from the only person who makes him feel special and loved. Even if it means giving up everything he has. Because love is all that matters. And it always finds a way.

Guest Post: SettingHello everyone!
I’m so happy to be on Love Bytes to discuss the setting of my novel.
I chose Florida as the location of the story because I lived there for a few months in 2013 and that’s when I got inspired to write the story. I remember driving across the state (because I hate flying!) and seeing the stretches of land, the orange trees, the lakes, etc. and just knowing it would be an excellent place for a story.
While not specifically stated in the story, Colton lives in northern Florida, not too far from Georgia. His family’s land stretches quite a few acres and is based on an orange grove I saw when driving through. I actually had to have my fiance stop the car once so I could actually get a feel for the layout of the land and just kind of bask in the atmosphere a bit.
The time of the story also helped play a huge part in synchronization with the setting. It’s very hot in Florida a good portion of the year. The story takes place right when harvest season for the type of oranges his parents grow is just starting, which also happens to be during the time Florida weather is absolutely beautiful. The end of harvest season also marks the weather getting hotter, more suffocating, which is a direct parallel to Colton and Oliver’s relationship: in the past he felt suffocated, Oliver comes along and he can breathe for the first time, and the future looks muggy, tough, and he knows he’s going to have to endure the heat to get what he wants.
Michael brought with him a copy of “Red Rose ( Blood)”.
