Workaholic Nate Erickson is a successful real estate developer who thrives on long hours and stress. When a Los Angeles project prompts him to relocate to Santa Monica, he welcomes the change of scenery. Nate has always considered romantic entanglements trouble, but his sexy next-door neighbor isn’t easy to ignore. Which makes no sense, because Nate is straight… or so he’s always thought.
Alex Reyes is a retired professional soccer player turned West Hollywood business owner with an insatiable lust for life. He loves his family, friends, and work. But there’s one life challenge left to accomplish: coming out publicly. Respect for traditional Latino values has kept him in the closet, but Alex begins to think he and his new neighbor might help one another combat their fears. As Alex and Nate forge a strong friendship, they soon realize facing their personal demons will take more courage than either man bargained. The reward is immeasurable… if the timing is right.
REVIEW:
I just love this series!!! Every book just keeps getting better and better. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again…I LOVE LANE HAYES BOOKS!!! This author works magic on a page and that is no friggin joke! Ever since Book 1 I’ve been curious about Alex. For some reason I always thought Michael and Alex were cousins but apparently not. My bad. Anyway, Alex has always intrigued me so I was really happy when I found out this book would be about him.
Alex Reyes is essentially a successful business man. He doesn’t however let his professional life rule him. He lives his life for the here and now and tries very hard to enjoy every minute. Having recently retired from his professional soccer career, he’s running his gym and dabbling in real estate. The only thing he really struggles with is “officially” coming out as a gay man. His friends know and his family too but he hates feeling like he may be living a lie.
Nate Erickson recently moved into Alex’s condo. He temporarily relocated to oversee a job that his company was in charge of. Nate doesn’t identify as gay. He’s hidden or pushed his desires aside for so long he doesn’t even identify as bisexual, which is what he is. Running from life he’s happy with this change of pace and change of scenery.
I loved every interaction between Alex and Nate. I adored how shut off, closed up, cold Nate took in the vivacious, warm, open Alex. I could kind of picture in my head how Nate’s irritation turned into adoration pretty quickly. I fell in love with Alex too!!! How could you not???
This book was fascinating because you knew there was something that you’re missing. Some piece of the puzzle that just didn’t fit. There was something in the background that people kept tiptoeing around. And you didn’t really get what it could be until it was right on you….and damn. What a shocker!!
But these two men together epitomize what two halves of a whole look like. Nate and Alex are like Yin and Yang, complete opposites but they complement each other exceptionally well. They were so hot together and then there were these perfect moments of tenderness.
This author just does it for me, regularly!! This book is so good and I absolutely recommend.
