When winged paranormal Dante is injured in a demon attack, he faces certain death unless he can reach a healing spring just off the Pacific coast. With his strength waning and the demon poison infesting his system, the spring is his only hope. He never expects to find salvation in the arms of the property’s caretaker, a much younger man.
Bren is fascinated by the beautiful winged man who arrives at his family’s sanctuary. He’s determined to save Dante’s life, but he’ll have to find a way to help Dante heal without infecting himself with the demonic poison, and time is running out
Review:
I love the whole supernatural world and especially one where its blended with the world we know. I had high hopes for this book, but it fell a little short.
There’s not a lot I can say without giving away the whole plot, but what I can say is this. The premise is amazing and the writing is wonderful. The characters are interesting and compelling. It wasn’t hard to become invested in not only Dante and Bren, but in Bren’s brother’s fate as well. The idea of a magical place of healing that’s completely neutral ground for all paranormals is fascinating. The stories that could be spun from it could be epic.
The problem with this story is that the author tried to put too much into too few pages. We barely have enough time to get attached to Bren and Dante before we are flung toward the end. I understand that the stories are supposed to be short to be part of the anthology, but this would have benefitted greatly from expanding it and letting us see more of the world that the author built for us to get lost in.
I would have loved a little more angst…a little more anticipation so that when the happy ending came, it could really be appreciated. As it is, it feels like a really long summary….or like the Cliff’s Notes version or something.
So, in the end, it’s a great idea, a beautiful world, interesting characters and good writing. But in this case, all those positives end up highlighting the fact that I felt totally cheated by the rush through this potentially great story.

I don’t read many paranormal books but it’s always good to read some reviews and see what else is available in the m/m genre. So thanks for this review.
I love paranormal stories but haven’t read many involving angels/demons. Thank you for the review =)
Thank you for your helpful review, its helpful as I often worry about buying shorter stories for the reasons you felt after reading this one. I can only hope that this story is extended in a longer version as it obviously has potential and I love paranormal, so hopefully the author might do that 🙂
Interesting concept that I hope can be expanded. Thanks for the review.
