After the death of his longtime partner, American attorney Dan Evans is reassigned to his firm’s London office. It’s a change his life sorely needs. While admiring roses in a small village in the Cotswolds, Dan meets Martin Saint John. Martin, still fit and attractive at seventy, has also lost his partner, and now spends his time growing roses, meeting friends in the pub, and going to church on Sundays, content with his quiet life. Roses and tea progress to spending weekends together exploring the countryside, but the differences between Dan and Martin go beyond the fifteen year age gap. If they can open their hearts and accept love—instead of accepting its absence—they might find a second chance at happiness. All because of roses.

REVIEW:
This is by far my most favorite story in the Never Too Late daily dose collection. This is due to one of the MCs being in his seventies and still proving that life doesn’t stop in your golden years. Dan and Martin are two men who’ve lost the loves of their lives and were quite content with living out their remaining years alone. Dan decides to start over in the country whereas Martin spends his time tending to his beautiful garden of roses and spending time with family and friends. He’s kept himself active; he was alone, but not lonely. Neither man was looking for love; they were content. A chance meeting proves that sometimes you find the most beautiful things when you’re not looking for it.
The relationship between these men really warmed my heart. Of course they both resisted initially thinking that that it wouldn’t work because of their age and the age difference. They spent too much time thinking that it wouldn’t work because their ages, the difference between their ages, both of them wouldn’t be able to love again because of the loss of their partners and so on. The author did a fantastic job of writing about these two silver foxes finding each other and finding love when they didn’t expect to. I absolutely adore, adore, adore Martin! This seventy-year-old man is full of life and vitality; he’s what my granny would refer to as ‘spry’. While I loved both characters, Martin, in my opinion, is the most endearing of the two. Richard May did a fantastic job of proving that there’s someone out there for everyone.
It’s truly never too late to find love and it’s sweeter the second time around.

I love may-december/ age gap stories but i think although there is a age gap this story doesn’t fit the overall may december theme. I really like the blurb. This looks like a great read and although i never read a book or story with a main character who is over the age of seventy your review certainly has me intriguid so thanks for that 🙂
You’re welcome, cheers, love!
Wow, glad to see an author go well beyond the age of 40 for their hero!
Well this is a first for me seeing a character over the age of 40 or 50 finding love again.
This story gives hope that no matter your age its always possible to find love, thank you Richard May and thank you Kimberley for your delightful review 🙂
I love the whole premise of this story. It would be first time I’ve seen a romance MC in their 70s, but I think it works. Certainly love has no age barrier. Great review!
Your five star review captured my interest. It’s rare to have a MC in his 70’s.
