BLURB:
Love is the key to unlock a dragon’s heart.
Raxon, standing at a mere six feet two inches has always been made to feel inadequate, especially when he’s compared to his beautiful, brilliant brothers and dragon-lord father. To prove himself he takes on the most dangerous assignments for the dragon council.
But when he is betrayed and made outcast, Raxon is given a chance at redemption. His mission is to infiltrate the Monsters inK circle. But within that circle is Damien de Marco—a human whose love for Rax burns fiercer than any dragon-fire.
Will Rax destroy the very place and the very man who offers the acceptance he has always craved, or will love triumph?
REVIEW:
Damien works in a shoe shop and when Rax, dubbed Mr Leather, walks in wanting boots, sparks fly. While Damien thinks of Rax as sex-on-legs, Rax has a much poorer opinion of humans. Although he finds that after encountering Damien there’s an itch he can’t quite scratch.
Damien and Rax make a great couple with their relationship building slowly. There is a large cast of secondary characters, which admittedly was confusing, and included wizards, shifters, a witch, and vampires, covering a wide spectrum of the paranormal. Plus there was the very spoiled Gyng, a ginger cat and much beloved, and very opinionated, pet.
In addition to the love story between dragon and man, and Rax’s gradual realisation that humans can be every bit as complex and honourable as dragon kind, there is political intrigue, villainous relatives (dragon and human), and wheels within wheels. All very enjoyable.
There is use of Australian slang, that didn’t bother me at all, and which is explained – usually for the benefit of shifters.
A world where beings of fantasy and legend live among humans but not, as yet, openly so. Just the kind of book I like. This is number eight in the series and I’ll be taking a look at the previous books. Although a series, each one can be read as a standalone. I recommend this book to anyone who enjoys a good dragon/human story!
