The morning after Casey & Sev return home. Exclusive Bonus Scene

Casey slid out of bed, smiling down at his mate. They’d had a long night of learning one another’s bodies again after… he swallowed. He wouldn’t think about what had happened. Sev was here, in their bed where he belonged, and Casey would do everything in his power to ensure that never changed.

He pulled on a nightshirt and made his way into the kitchen of their small house, thinking about the new house Jake had said the members of the enclave were going to build for them, and his heart swelled. It wasn’t that he didn’t like Hakiim’s house, but now that Sev, Mikhail, and Vadim were going to be living with him, they needed the extra room.

A whispered word had a fire starting beneath the kettle he would use to make tea, and then he set to making breakfast. He wasn’t sure what Sev enjoyed, but he would make something the two of them could share in bed, and then share another round of lovemaking. It all seemed so unreal. Back at college he’d had a string of one-night stands with girls whose names he would be hard pressed to remember, but now? Now the only person who mattered was the one who was warm and comfortable in their bed.

“Good morning,” came a sleepy voice from the doorway. Casey spun around and found Sev leaning against the frame, totally nude, and looking amazing in the morning light.

“Sev! What are you doing up?”

“You’re making enough noise to rouse the spirits.”

“I’m sorry. I wanted to make you breakfast. Go back to bed, and I’ll bring it in when it’s done.”

Sev wrapped his arms around Casey’s waist and pressed those talented lips to Casey’s neck.

“But bed is lonely. I would prefer to have you there with me.”

“But what about breakfast?” Casey asked breathlessly.

Sev took Casey’s hand and placed it on his erection. “Is food really what you’re hungry for?”

“Right. The hell with it, we’ll have lunch later.”

Sev giggled, and pulled Casey to the bedroom once again, closing the door behind them. After all they’d gone through in the last few weeks, he’d never deny Sev anything, and who was he to turn down the offer of morning sex?

“I love you,” Sev whispered.

“Me, too. More than I ever thought would be possible. Now stop talking, and make me forget about breakfast.”

Sev pounced on Casey, and leaned close to his ear. “Gladly.”

Then Casey was lost in the feelings for this man the spirits had given him.

“This night is shot,” Casey mumbled. “Hakii, if you’re there, I’m sorry. I need to find him. I’ll try to be back as soon as I can. Oh, and if you’re not there, I hope you’re getting a damn good laugh at me talking to myself.”

The night air had chilled considerably. Casey threw on a sweater and hurried to the Alpha’s house. Before he could pound on the door, it swung open. Jake stood there wearing nothing at all.

“Oh god, my eyes.”

Jake sighed. “You’ve seen me before. A lot, if I recall correctly.”

“And every time I do, I remember that I need to create eye bleach.”

Jake faked a laugh. “Yeah, you’re hilarious. What do you want?”

“A guy came to my house tonight. His name is Sev, and I think he’s in trouble.”

All humor fled from Jake’s face. “What happened?”

Casey told him about the visit. “He…called me his mate. What the hell is that about?”

“Later. We’ve got to find him.”

In an instant, Jake transformed into a beautiful black jaguar. Zak came rushing to the door. “What is wrong?”

Before Casey could answer, Zak grabbed a heavy coat and squirmed into it. “Jake will track him. You will come with us.”

“Zak, he called me his mate. Why would he do that?”

“You worry about this now? I do not see where this matters. If you prefer, you may stay behind.”

Casey sobered immediately. “No, you’re right. I’m sorry.”

They tracked Jake as he hurried to the woods. When they heard him roar, Zak and Casey ran to the edge of the forest. Jake had transformed back to his human form and, man, was he pissed.

“Come out here, now,” he demanded.

There was no movement, but Casey heard a clicking noise, followed by the familiar stamping of feet.

“You spray me and I swear to the gods I will neuter you. Put your damn tail down and face us as a man, Sev.”

Parker Williams believes that true love exists, but it always comes with a price. No happily ever after can ever be had without work, sweat, and tears that come with melding lives together.

Living in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Parker held his job for nearly 28 years before he decided to retire and try new things. He enjoys his new life as a stay-at-home author and also working on Pride-Promotions, an LGBT author promotion service.
