Bringing a series to an end is both satisfying and sad. It’s an amazing feeling to have taken a spark of inspiration watch it roar to life, the flames growing larger and larger. But eventually the flames die down and there remains only embers. That is where I am with the Whispering Pines and Guards of Folsom. One born of the other it has come full circle it’s time to say The End.
I’m still amazed by where Lorcan and the rest of these men have gone. Originally I sat down to write a single, contemporary romance, just one! The Whispering Pines grew to five, who would have thunk! When I finally thought I had put the series to bed, I realized poor Ty had only gotten a HFN and if anyone deserved a Happily Ever After, it was him. Instead of continuing the series (at least that’s what I thought at the time) I’ll write a short free read and do right by Ty. Riveted was to be THE END. *sigh* How wrong I was. Those embers flared to life once again and the Guards of Folsom was born.

What an amazing journey it has been. I have loved telling their stories and through each one, I’ve grown as both a person and a writer. This week I wrote The End on BOUND, the final book in this series. While I’ve enjoyed this journey immensely, it’s time for me to move on. Look for BOUND to come out later this year through Dreamspinner Press. For those who have followed this series, I thank you from the bottom of my heart. I hope this final book does these guys justice.

BOUND *sneak peek*
Some think it’s how much fun you have, your net worth or the notches on your bedpost that define a good life. I learned by a young age that while all of those things make life both more interesting and exciting, it’s how much you are loved that really matters. What I’ve also learned is one should never become too comfortable, for with it comes complacency and that in is where the danger lies.
I’ve heard many couples say, ‘We’re content’ rather than ‘We’re in love’ they tend to forget the others needs and desires assuming the “contentment” is mutual or they mistake it for happiness. While I never lost the thrill of excitement Jamie could produce in me with just one look or the desire to fulfill each and every one of his needs and wants, I did become comfortable, lack in my duty to protect him.
Living a quite dream, working a job I loved and loving the man at my side, I became complacent and for my sin, Jamie suffered.
Tek Cain
Taken
Tek’s name, his existence, was borne of blood and violence—a daily reminder of the horrific drive by that had caused his mother to go into early labor and taken his father’s life. That vicious event had brought him into the world, and it had tied him inexplicably, inexorably, irrevocably to Jamie. Even then Jamie had been there. In a bassinet next to him in that hospital nursery.
For the two of them, there had never been any other option besides cradle to grave.
It was why they’d had no choice but to run so many years ago. To fake their deaths, leave the west coast behind, and start anew in one of the biggest, most anonymous cities in the world. He and Jamie had fled their shared past, but they could never be completely free of it. Going witpro meant going rat, and neither of them could have done that to their club. So they did their best to just disappear—putting a continent between the two of them and their old lives.
Three thousand miles didn’t feel anywhere near enough at this moment.
“They found us”
Tek drove the cycle harder, pushing the engine into a determined vengeful roar. His cell hung leaden in his jacket pocket, that cryptic text from Jamie banging around in his head, kicking up his adrenaline, each heartbeat and growling vibration of the powerful cycle alighting his every nerve. Tek was afraid and he couldn’t remember the last time he’d felt real fear.
Tek snarled, pushed the bike harder. No matter how many years he was removed from the kid who had nearly lost his soul to protect the motorcycle club, he could go back to that darkness when he needed it. And right now—unsure of just how bad off Jamie was, but feeling, knowing, that Jamie wasn’t okay—Tek let the pain and anger of remembered wrongs take him over and blacken his vision into dangerously honed focus.
If they were using any of his black poly ropes or suspension devices to cause Jamie any pain, they wouldn’t survive the night.
SJD Peterson, better known as Jo, hails from Michigan. Not the best place to live for someone who hates the cold and snow. When not reading or writing, Jo can be found close to the heater checking out NHL stats and watching the Red Wings kick a little butt. Can’t cook, misses the clothes hamper nine out of ten tries, but is handy with power tools.

Jo, two great series. I was there from book one. I loved them. CONGRATS to you for writing the great chance that we love.
I’m always sad to see a favorite series end, and these are two of my faves, but I’d rather see it end naturally than force out books when the author isn’t really feeling it. I’ve actually had Roped waiting on my kindle waiting for Bound so I can read them straight through. Can’t wait!
Jo’s books are an auto buy for me. I’ve loved both of these series and all the amazing characters she has created. Thanks for the sneak peek. Can’t wait for Bound!
