LENGTH: approx 90 pages
BLURB:
Ric Costanza and Connor Ferguson grew up together, friends all the way through high school – until Ric pushed Connor away when they were both sixteen. Self-preservation is a very strong force indeed.
Connor had his own theory as to why it happened…
When they meet up eight years later, a lot of water has passed under the bridge. Ric is about to enter the priesthood and Connor is engaged to Keira. Except all is not as it seems. Ric is a mess, and Connor wants to help.
What starts out as a simple offer to provide a shoulder for a former best friend becomes more than both men bargained for.
REVIEW:
The second book in the series is as enjoyable as the first! In this installment we move on to a former high school friend of Alex from book one, which of course means another former student of Nick.
Ric Costanza has a quandary. He told his mother at eleven that he wanted to be a priest like his Uncle Matt. As an Italian Catholic, his mother couldn’t think of anything better. But now he is in his mid-twenties and the idea doesn’t sound as appealing. Ric has spent years going to school getting degrees. He became kind of a career student, staying in school all the way up through a Doctorate. Is all this schooling a sign that he is avoiding something?
Ric is at a friend’s wedding when things come to a fork in the road. His former friend Alex is there with his boyfriend, who turns out to be Mr. Tremantle, their high school teacher! Of course Ric’s mother tells him immediately not to be seen talking to them since they are finnochios, and not someone a future priest should be seen with. Sitting next to Alex on the other side is Ric’s best friend from childhood, Connor Ferguson. Connor is engaged to marry a girl they grew up with named Kiera, but things are not as they seem. Something happens at the wedding that will also change Connor’s life forever.
When Ric and Connor talk it is like old times. What will happen when they each offer the other a shoulder to cry on, and the whole truth comes out? One entertaining fast read, that’s what!
I really enjoyed this book. Again, like book one, it was on the short side for me. I would have loved more! That said, K.C. Wells does a great job at story writing. Her short tales have a beginning, a middle and an end. I’m just greedy and want more of everything! Her books are always well written and well edited. Her characters are believable enough that I feel they really do live here in the State of Florida not that far from me and actually right down the street from Max Vos! I think we all need to get together for a Big Old Gay BBQ!
I highly recommend this book and its predecessor. I really think you’ll like them, so pick them up today!
