BLURB:
High-school boyfriends Jack Haldane and Bastian Wade thought everything would be perfect once they reunited at college, putting disapproving parents and small-town attitudes firmly in the past. Now Jack’s on track for a PhD scholarship and a career as a researcher, and Bastian . . . well, living inside a broken body and trailing along in Jack’s shadow didn’t feature in his lofty teenage ambitions. A weekend camping trip back home offers a chance for them to reconnect, but an ugly confrontation with the local motorcycle gang is only the start of their problems. When disaster occurs and the world unravels, will Bastian and Jack manage to hold on to each other, or fall further apart as they try to survive?
REVIEW:
Fallout is an amazing dark romance, a fight for survival against all odds. Jack and Bastian have been lovers since high school, but a car accident has left Bastian with a permanent and debilitating spinal injury. Jack feels responsible for what happened to Bastian and tries to help him as much as possible, but Bastian despises feeling weak and coddled. In a last ditch attempt to save their relationship, Jack and Bastian go on a camping trip together, which swiftly turns into a life or death situation. After a frightening run-in with a local biker gang, a catastrophic natural disaster strikes and the couple become separated in the melee.
Following the disaster, the local biker gang takes over leaving Jack Bastian caught in the middle of chaos and anarchy. In a landscape that appears post-apocalyptic, Jack and Bastian are forced to make extraordinary decisions in order to survive. Their love is put to the test and by the end of the book, Jack and Bastian learn they are much stronger than they had ever imagined.
Though the plot involves kidnapping and sexual assault, this is far from being an enemies to lovers book. The rapists and bad guys are the types of men you will definitely want to kill. With that said, I really love how the Stockholm Syndrome is represented. Fallout is an emotional journey, full of violence, suspense, and extreme retribution. Though love and justice prevail, it should be advised that this novel is not for the faint of heart. This is the first book I’ve read from this author, but I’ll definitely be reading more of her works in the future.

Wonderful review! I’m buying it.
Hmmm…not sure about this one. I have only read one book by Lisa Henry (When all the World Sleeps) and got one on my TBR (Dark Space) so I think I’ll hold on a bit and see what Dark Space is like before committing.
I’m thinking I may have to give it a try. I really like Lisa Henry’s book The Island but it is the only one of hers I have read. If it’s as good as The Island, I’ll go through it quickly.
