I am watching the new series of Daredevil. I am around 5 episodes in and so far, the hero, Matt, has been beaten up so many times he should NOT be standing. That isn’t a spoiler—we all know our superheroes get beaten on a lot. But…
He’s not the kind of superhero I am immediately drawn to. My favourite superheroes are the powerful, near invincible ones… like Thor, and Superman. I love Tony Stark in his suit, I adore that he has this suit that means he can be pushed way past human limits. The Flash makes me happy with his whizzing around J
Of course all these heroes have Achilles heels. Family, pride, lack of common sense, you name it and these invincible heroes have their kryptonite (!).
Black Widow, Hawkeye, Arrow, and Matt are all parts in a wider drama, but they are normal under the mask. Yes, they have skills, yes they look good in their *suits*, but at the end of the day they are highly trained experts with seemingly no fear (who are all also very good at Parkour!). I like they are normal, but I still prefer my unhuman-humans.
When I am writing I love to show the normal that is inside the perfect. Most of the guys I write are fit, strong, confident and mostly gorgeous, but I like to give them all flaws. Whether it is arrogance (Riley, Texas) or over confidence (Joseph, Sanctuary), it is the flaws that make our heroes.
Still, there is something about the apparently invincible superhero… I’d love to write him one day.
The Only Easy Day

One dead girl, one scared witness, and two men trained as Navy SEALS. Whether searching for justice or revenge, the final showdown between them is the same—explosive.
Dale MacIntyre, former Navy SEAL, works for Sanctuary. He’s close to obtaining the evidence he needs to prove Elisabeth Costain’s death was ordered by them… until someone gets in his way.
Joseph Kinnon, active Navy SEAL, is back on U.S. soil for the first time in months, and he’s told the tragic news that his stepsister is dead, gunned down in an alley by an unknown assailant. He’s determined to find out who murdered her…until someone gets in his way.
They both want the Bullen family brought to account, but one wants justice and the other wants revenge. What happens between them, however, has nothing to do with either.
