REVIEW:
Awww…. what a sweet little story! I needed this. I’ve read a couple of not-so-great books and I was losing my faith a bit. This is how you write a short story! And from a new author as well. Yeah!
Toby Lee is the houseboy/third lover of Colin and Clay. The two older men get married in a lavish and fun wedding in Hawaii, and poor Toby is left in the cold. I don’t think C&C, as Toby calls them, intended to ignore him, but they do. Toby has thought of himself as more that their houseboy, and to them he is, but to their friends he is someone to take advantage of, as we see with the snarky and nasty Jake. Toby sees a hot man working at a bar, then another bar, and yet another bar, and decides to see about getting himself some vacation luving, and ends up with much more than that, with the hunky Wolff!
I’ll stop there, this is really a short book and I don’t want to get too crazy with my plot outline! So Toby is cute, young, and a bit innocent, but he takes such good care of Colin and Clay, you can see that just from his little bits of interaction with them. He also takes care of their other friends, dumping their drunk asses in to bed, and putting up with the obnoxious one. He deserves a little happiness and I was glad to see him get it. There is a little bit of sex, not much, but just a taste of what could be between Toby and Wolff. The whole story is really about what could be. You could look at the ending as an ending, to Toby and Wolff’s story, or it could be a beginning. What could be next for them? We don’t know.
This was just a sweet little story! It’s short, only 40 pages, but I enjoyed it. The writing was good, I saw no editing issues, which is awesome after my last couple of books! I’m curious to see what more we get from Caraway Carter, the potential is certainly there for some good writing.
