Jon Beatty thought he’d found the best man for him until Craig walked out. To add insult to injury, Craig’s got a new lover—a woman—and wants Jon to be a different kind of best man…at his wedding.
Reasoning that the only way to get over one man is to get under another, Jon heads out to Wilde’s, the night club on Capitol Hill famous for its hot clientele and hotter bartenders. Jon just wants to get drunk and get laid, and bartender Liam Sable is more than willing to help with both.
Their one night stand turns into a rebound fling, but as Jon moves on with Liam, Craig starts having second thoughts about the break-up. His tiresome antics are the least of Jon and Liam’s worries, though. The least annoying, and the least dangerous…
REVIEW:
I’ve always been a fan of L.A. Witt books. This author’s writing style has always been able to capture my attention and keep it. This book was no exception. I thoroughly enjoyed this story, the characters, the intrigue of Wilde’s and its gorgeous staff, and I even loved to hate the “bad guy.” The story flowed effortlessly and you get so wrapped up that you’re almost shocked when it’s over.
Jon Beatty is on month 6 of break up recovery from Craig. Craig and Jon agreed to remain friends after their split. Jon hasn’t really gotten over Craig but Craig has not only supposedly gotten over Jon he is now in a relationship with a woman he’s recently proposed to. Being that Jon is Craig’s “best friend” he’s decided he wants Jon as his best man in his upcoming wedding. Jon, being selfless, agrees even though he feels it’s going to make miserable. Ironically, it’s at Craig’s urging that Jon should get out, meet someone, date, and have fun so he decides to go to Wilde’s and meets shift manager/bartender, Liam Sable.
Liam is just out of an abusive relationship. The very last thing he wants is to jump into something serious. But he cannot ignore the explosive chemistry he immediately has with Jon. They flirt, talk, connect and decide to meet up after Liam’s shift.
Without a doubt Liam and Jon can burn up some sheets. They were so smoking hot together. I loved how desperate they were for each other when things started heating up. I loved the whole “I need you NOW” aspect of their coupling. I found it completely believable. I loved the pace of their relationship. I loved that there were no crazy declarations of love after a couple rounds of sex and when the emotion did come, it was perfect!
As with every relationship, there are some bumps along the way. Liam martyring himself was frustrating. That seemed ridiculous to me but his intentions where good.
Overall, really enjoyed this one and would recommend!!
