TITLE: Unexpected Alpha
AUTHOR: Amber Kell
PUBLISHER: Self Pub
LENGTH: 69 pages
BLURB:
Stanley didn’t expect his life to change when he went jogging one night. Barely surviving a dog attack he woke in a strange bed with odd urges. He didn’t mind the sexy man hovering over him. In fact if Fen wished to join him in bed he’d have no objections.
Fenris wanted the alpha at his first growl. The sexy man’s commanding air and sweet smile were a combination out of Fen’s hottest dreams. Unfortunately family issues and outside forces tried to push the lovers apart and keep them from their happily ever after.
Faced with opposition Stanley did the only thing he could. He let everyone know that the new alpha on the block wouldn’t accept anyone getting between him and his man.
REVIEW:
Stanley Brown is a mild mannered accountant whose life is, kind of boring and quite regimented. He goes jogging at the same time almost every night and one of those nights he gets attacked by a huge wolf. Unbeknownst to Stanley he’s actually been “asleep” for two weeks while he has been changing into an alpha werewolf! Luckily the first person he sees, when he can stand to open his eyes, is Fenris Harven who has been looking after him while he’s been “sleeping”. Stanley can’t work out why he feels so possessive of Fen when he’s only just met him. Fen is the only one who can get Stanley to behave himself and not kill everyone he and his wolf see as a threat!
It turns out that Stanley’s adopted father is in fact the Overseer of the were community (he’s a badass!) who has taken it upon himself to arrange Stanley’s “change” but he’s also chosen a mate for him. Sebastian, an alpha from a different area is the chosen mate and he’s an ass! Thankfully Stanley and his mother sort both of them out because Stanley has fallen for, fixated and imprinted on Fen and nothing is going to change that. And no one is going to take Fen away from Stanley.
I must say that Stanley adjusted to the fact that his life had completely changed and he was now a werewolf, not any werewolf but an unusually strong Alpha werewolf! It does help that despite the meddling by his father his adopted parents are very loving and supportive. Having Fen for his mate is another bonus as he’s completely devoted to Stanley and leads him through his journey of discovery with not only love and understanding but humour as well.
Unexpected Alpha is only a short story but you get to have a good laugh at the antics of the characters’. You really can’t go wrong with an Amber Kell book! I would definitely recommend this book to all m/m, paranormal romance story readers.
