REVIEW:
I am a big fan of paranormal romance stories, and I’m particularly fond of shifter stories. I was happy to pick this one up when the request for review came in, a new author to me, and a werewolf story…. But. This story is waaaay too short to really give me a good look at this authors writing. It’s not bad, just really short.
Mike Hadley, the sheriff of Collins South Dakota, has a lover named Damien. Damien is a werewolf, and Mike is his mate. Mike does not know anything about werewolves… Mike is looking for some missing men, that local asshole business man Dave Roberts has told him disappeared around Los Lobos, the secretive town nearby. Mike begins to look in to it, and has his eyes opened to a whole new world, and learns there is more to his lover than he knows.
This is an interesting story but I felt like I was dumped in the middle of a book. I see this is part of a series, so I looked at the other books on Goodreads to see if I was missing something. There is a big series of Black Hills Pack books, most appear to be m/f books. I didn’t see any mention in the other descriptions of Mike and Damien, so we have no idea of their back story. This felt like a continuation of an existing story and I felt a bit lost. It’s really fast paced, a lot happens in a short amount of time, and not a lot is explained.
It’s not a bad book, and I think if I had read the other books I might have a better understanding of the world the author has created. I liked the characters of Mike and Damien, and the couple of sex scenes were very hot. The writing was good, the world was interesting, it’s just really short!
