REVIEW:
I have never been on the edge of my seat as much as I was reading this book. This was a roller coaster ride of emotions. My stomach was in knots almost throughout the whole story. Nik runs so hot and cold it was torture trying to get a read on him. I overanalyzed every single situation and scenario, believing that the bottom could fall out any minute. If I could sum up this story in one word that word would be: intense. This had intense drama, intense characters, intense suspense, intense connections, intense sex, every single thing about it was INTENSE and I loved every single moment of it.
Secrets. There are so many secrets between Nik and Ben. Their relationship switches in the blink of an eye. Boss/employee, lover/enemy, friend/friend, lover/lover and on it goes and on. The emotion is so palpable at times. These men feel greatly for each other but I guess since they are men, soldiers with horrific pasts they either believe they don’t deserve love or that when they do find it, everything has to be rough, hard, painful, bloody. It’s such a dichotomy reading their interactions, but I loved it.
There are so many spoilers and landmines throughout the whole story that it’s a hard one to review without giving anything away. But know that this book is beyond incredible.
These things I know for certain. This author is a story telling genius. I mean absolute genius. None of what I read seemed far-fetched or unbelievable (not counting in the lack of lube). At times I felt like I was in this struggle with these two men. Be that in their tense relationship or them running for their lives, every word put me right in the story. I am scared to death for book #2 but I have already bought it, opened it and am looking at the first words now. There’s no way I cannot NOT know what will happen next. I am completely sucked in and I love it. I also know that any and all readers would be just as sucked in as me if you get this book. A definite must read…!!
