So A Couple of Years Ago I Got This Idea….
It came about several ways. Listening to The Four Seasons by Vivaldi. Remembering the classic disco album by the diva goddess Donna Summer about the seasons. And watching one of my favorite movies ever, The Broken Hearts Club–a very, very real depiction of gay men and their friendships.
And I began to think…what if I write a story about some gay friends? Single gay friends…, What could be my hook? And as Vivaldi’s Spring segued into Summer, I let out a gasp. Why not make it four friends? And each book was about one of the friends AND one of the four seasons? What if the books all stood alone but also, if they were read one after another, the would build onto each other?
And then I thought! OMGosh! What if one of them isn’t single but has a horrible lover and what if the readers hope and hope he will dump the guy and find true love?
And bit by bit it began to shape together and I presented it to my publisher Elizabeth North at Dreamspinner Press and she liked the idea and gave me the go ahead.
Now originally I was only going to write about one of these a year and insert other novels in between. But the emails started coming in and I realized people weren’t going to want to wait four years. Plus there are all those people emailing telling me they aren’t going to buy the books until all four are out because they’ve been burned by series before…. *sigh* Because there is me wanting to quit my day job and write full time and I can’t yet! I am going to have to write all four first!
Now trust me! I am loving it! But it is also turning out to be tearing my heart out. I am laying my soul on the line in these books. A lot of ME is in these, far more than I would have ever expected.
And book four? Wyatt’s book? He has more of me than any other character. There are differences. He faces stuff I never had to. On the other hand, a lot of my pain is turning out to be in his book too.
But right now? Right now is book four. Autumn Changes. And a big issue that I dealt with and put in my new book is the years I thought I was going to hell because I was gay. I exorcised some demons through Asher in the writing of this book and hope it will give a message to anyone else who has the same fears and worries that I and Asher had to work through.
And Peni! I bet NO one who read the first two books saw him coming as Asher’s love interest. They two men couldn’t be more different. How will I do it? How will I make readers believe Asher can change enough? How can I make them believe that two such different people could find love?
Easy? POUR me into it again! Because there could not be two more different people than my husband and I. And we are going on fifteen years!
So I hope you will give my new book a try! I love it! And I promise, the last book is coming. Blood, sweat, tears and all!
Here is the blurb for Autumn Changes:
Asher Eisenberg is a brilliant actor, destined for fame and fortune. But a traumatic incident in his past has caused him to reject his Jewish heritage and hide from everyone behind walls of arrogance and selfishness, and he blurs his loneliness with a lot of sex and alcohol. When he meets Peniamina Faamausili, however, he strangely can’t stop thinking about the young man.
Peni is struggling with his sexuality, the Mormonism he was raised in, and the Samoan heritage that calls to him. He longs to receive the pe’a—the traditional Samoan tattoos– and learn more of his people’s ways. He has no interest in a man like Asher, who appears to use men and put them aside and whose drinking can’t help but remind him of the drunk driver who killed his father. But he can’t deny his attraction to Asher and finally agrees to a date if Asher can go thirty days without a drink.
Asher is about to go on a journey that will awaken him to his friends, his past, his future, and even to love. But that awakening could well demand the sacrifice of the dream he holds most dear.
Thank you again for reading my words!
“La manuia le aso,” which means “Have a nice day in Samoan!”

B.G. loves romance, comedies, fantasy, science fiction and even horror—as far as he is concerned, as long as the stories are character driven and entertaining, it doesn’t matter the genre. He has gone to conventions since he was fourteen years old and has been lucky enough to meet many of his favorite writers. He has made up stories since he was child; it is where he finds his joy.
In the nineties, he wrote for gay magazines but stopped because the editors wanted all sex without plot. “The sex is never as important as the characters,” he says. “Who cares what they are doing if we don’t care about them?” Excited about the growing male/male romance market, he began writing again. Gay men are what he knows best, after all. He submitted his first story in years and was thrilled when it was accepted in four days.
“Leap, and the net will appear” is his personal philosophy and his message to all. “It is never too late,” he states. “Pursue your dreams. They will come true!”
