BLURB:
Denver homicide cop and shooting survivor Beck Stryker lives to solve the case that left him with PTSD, chronic pain, and killed his co-investigator four months previous. Now his career hinges on his ability to work with the man who shut down his advances two years ago.
After last parting ways with Beck, psychiatrist-turned-FBI profiler Zach Littman never anticipated seeing the detective again. Being sent to Denver to work on a series of killings that have continued after the only suspect died is bad enough. Discovering the detective in charge is Beck leaves Zach gritting his teeth and girding his loins.
The last thing either of them needs is romantic entanglement with a fellow investigator, but danger is a powerful aphrodisiac. The case heats up, and friction between them ignites a fire neither can ignore, first at work and then in the bedroom. As they zero in on the plot behind the murders, the crosshairs zero in on Beck and Zach.
REVIEW:
This was one of those stories where the romance was not the main focus. I would say the murder mystery greatly out shadowed every other subplot in this book. And that’s not a bad thing. The writing was fantastic. The twists and turns were griping and you really wanted to continue reading because you needed to know what was going to happen next. Would I have liked more romance? Yes, but that doesn’t take away from the many other great parts to the story.
Beck Stryker just lost his partner and was injured in the process. Now he’s being assigned cases again while taking care of his late partners wife and kids. He’s wracked with guilt which pushes him to solve more cases. The newest case he’s on is looking bigger then they originally thought so his department is assigning an FBI consultant to team up with Beck. Unbeknownst to Beck is the same FBI agent he made a move on awhile back.
Zach Littman is a psychiatrist and an FBI profiler. When he hears he’s going to Denver to assist the local Police Department with a string of home invasions he’s not too terribly thrilled. He’s trying to help his ex-boyfriend get over their break up while remaining friends and he’s hesitant because he’s not a field agent. Also in the back of his mind he remembers the attractive police detective he turned down due to being in a relationship at the time.
When they’re thrust together again the attraction that was simmering before now is an inferno. But both men have tons of baggage. Beck is very closeted. He wants nothing to do with coming out. Zack is dealing with guilt over his previous relationship. He also wants Beck to come out so they can live an open life.
While these two men are battling over their relationship they still need to work together to catch their suspect. It’s hinted at very early on who the killer is and why. But there are tons of twists and surprises throughout the story.
If you love suspenseful reads that involve two hard-headed hot males who have explosive chemistry…this book is for you!!
