When Jeff agreed to be the sperm donor to his best friend Beth, he never expected a tragedy to leave his newborn and three year old motherless. That’s exactly what’s happened, though, and it’s totally thrown his life into chaos: his lover has left him, his house isn’t anywhere near childproof and his boss feels the restaurant has been patient enough with the time off.
Donny has always known he wanted to be in childcare, and he just finished his degree in early childhood education. He didn’t count on people being less than thrilled to hire him when they find out that not only is he a male nanny, but a gay one at that. Job hunting has been frustrating to say the least, so when he knocks on Jeff’s door and is greeted by the sounds of things breaking and a pair of screaming children, he thinks, just maybe, he can begin this particular interview with a trial by fire.
Becoming the nanny to Jeff’s children just might be a dream come true for Donny, and exactly what Jeff needs, but are either one of them ready to really be a family?
REVIEW:
Is there any m/m reader still out there who hasn’t read at least one Sean Michael book yet? Surely you’d be hard pressed to find one. And while I like this author’s BDSM books well enough, it’s the Mannies Inc series that I’m addicted to. But before Sean Michael gave us Mannies Inc there was Jeff and Robin and Kimberley, and their definite need for a nanny to come and save them.
Enter, Donny Gleason. Donny hasn’t had any luck finding a job as a nanny, despite the fact that he’s practically a modern Mary Poppins. At times, he seemed abnormally upbeat, even about the fact that nobody would hire him. Trouble was, not many people were keen on the idea of a male nanny and if they were still interested Donny felt it was the right thing to do to let them know upfront that he was gay. And that scared the rest of them away. Which meant that after dozens of rejections, Donny was getting a little desperate for a job. Luckily for Donny, when he turns up for his next interview he discovers a house with a crying baby, a screaming toddler and a bleeding parent. What better way to demonstrate his Donny Poppins skills than to dive right in and show them what he can do.
Jeff’s best friend Beth had been desperate to have children but when Jeff agreed to be the sperm donor he pictured himself as a doting uncle, not a fulltime daddy. However, when Beth’s dying wish was for Jeff to raise the children himself, how could he even contemplate refusing? Which is how he found himself attempting to raise a newborn baby and a three year old son as he watched his long term lover walkaway from their life together. After interviewing a dozen nannies, the majority of which insisted he give the children away, he believes his prayers have been answered when Donny lets himself in the front door.
I’m not going to claim that this book is a modern classic. It’s so cute and sweet and the ending is so perfect that if it weren’t for all the lovely sex I’d think I was reading a Disney script. But I just can’t help but love these “manny” books. They are absolutely my guilty pleasures.
The children are very present throughout the story, so if you’re a hater of kiddies in your books then you might want to steer clear. In fact, the men became a couple rather effortlessly. There was absolutely no angst in sight. Instead this book was more about the four of them becoming a family and figuring out their future together.
I like to re-read this one whenever I need an escape from reality and wish to inject a whole lot of happy into my day.

This will, in fact, be my first Sean Michael book. I don’t generally read BDSM, so I haven’t picked up his books before. Very glad for the review!
hope you enjoy it Lindsay 🙂
