LENGTH: 200 pages
BLURB:
Salvatore Terranova is a teacher at the local high school. He used to live in the big city of Charlottetown but never did meet the man of his dreams. Jaded but not defeated, Sal returns to Montague, completely unaware that the mysterious new neighbor in the old Victorian across the street is much more than he seems.
Having uprooted himself, Behr Kincaid settles in a small town, thousands of kilometers from everything and everyone he’s ever known. And with good reason, because he wasn’t born with that name. Behr always knew his brother was a criminal, but when Maurizio killed Behr’s husband of ten years, Behr gave up the life he had in order to see justice served. Despite his new identity, Behr knows the inevitable showdown will come when Maurizio tracks him down.
As Sal gets to know Behr, he realizes the man is lying about more than his name. While Behr wonders if there’s room for the truth, Sal wants to know who he’s falling in love with and must decide if it can lead to anything but a broken heart.
REVIEW:
After putting his brother in prison for murdering his lover, Behr has to put his old life behind him to stay alive. Never did Behr think while having to look over his shoulder, that he would meet and possibly fall for the man across the street.
Sal hasn’t had the best of luck finding love. Living back in his hometown and feeling defeated, he never thought to find someone who just moved in across the street from him so appealing. When finally meeting each other Sal begins asking Behr questions about his life and where he came from. But there seem to be a lot of holes in Behrs story…
I found the love story between Behr and Sal nice and entertaining. The banter between them and Sal’s flirtatious ways are great. Without giving any spoilers, where I felt a little disappointed in this book was with the action, or lack of action actually. Throughout the book I was waiting for all hell to break loose and have Behr’s brother show up, or his goons and have the shit hit the fan and although there is a twist that I didn’t expect, I felt a bit deflated. Other than having lackluster action, I did enjoy the book, the story and the characters.
