LENGTH: 213 Pages
BLURB:
Sorcerer Percival Endicott Whyborne and his husband Griffin Flaherty have enjoyed an unprecedented stretch of peace and quiet. Unfortunately, the calm is shattered by the arrival of a package from Griffin’s brother Jack, who has uncovered a strange artifact while digging for gold in Alaska. The discovery of a previously unknown civilization could revive the career of their friend Dr. Christine Putnam—or it might kill them all, if the hints of dark sorcery surrounding the find are true.
With Christine and her fiancé Iskander, Whyborne and Griffin must journey to the farthest reaches of the arctic to stop an ancient evil from claiming the life of Griffin’s brother. But in the rough mining camp of Hoarfrost, secrets fly as thickly as the snow, and Whyborne isn’t the only sorcerer drawn by the rumors of magic. Amidst a wilderness of ice and stone, Griffin must either face his greatest fear—or lose everyone he loves.
REVIEW:
Jordan L. Hawk has done it again. Just when I think I’ve read her best book ever, she comes out with another that blows the others away! I personally believe that each book in the series gets better and that Hoarfrost is a huge leap forward!
We rejoin Whyborne, Griffin, Christine and Iskander for another adventure. This time they are off to Alaska. It turns out Griffin’s long lost brother Jack has sent a package to Griffin with a strange artifact that he and his friend found while digging for gold in the mining community of Hoarfrost. The writing on the artifact bears remarkable resemblance to some pottery shards found at one point in England, which the world thought were a hoax because they were too old for human occupation on the British Isles. What does it mean that this same writing has now been found, buried deeply below the soil in the wilds of Alaska? Was there a globe spanning civilization thousands of years before the first recorded history of humankind?
Upon doing some research, Whyborne discovers that it ties to an ancient evil…one locked away thousands of years ago, but one that is ready to burst out upon the world if the miners make a mistake and dig too deeply! The only hope is to get there before it happens. Of course, at the mere whisper of an ancient civilization, Christine is on-board and the museum isn’t far behind. With some capital outlay by Whyborne’s father and the help of the family rail, the group is soon off.
But something else is in play. Why is Griffin hearing a voice in his head? Why is Jack so distrustful of Whyborne? Can the group even get there in time to avoid the ancient evil’s escape?
In my humble opinion, this is by far the best of the Whyborne & Griffin series so far. Hit One-Click immediately, do not delay. If you are a Whyborne & Griffin fan you will love it. If you aren’t already a fan…WHY NOT??? You are missing something…do yourself a favor and go get Book One and get reading! For those of us up to date, we can only finish Book Six and wait impatiently for the next one! I wish I didn’t read so fast…I finished it in one day and now want more! If you like historical romances with some monsters, sorcerers, and evil doers thrown in, then this series is definitely for you!
