These are all the rules Cristian Flesh set up for himself and his life as of the beginning of In the Flesh. He never meant for these to be even the slightest bit bendable, but meeting Colby Maddox changes everything.
The rules were created to allow Cristian to keep an emotional distance from the men he sleeps with. He’s not interested in a relationship in any way shape or form. Rules two, three, four, ten, eleven and thirteen are there for that reason. He doesn’t want to get close to anybody because he sees himself as damaged.
Rules one and five are linked to number six. He doesn’t like to think about his past, let alone discuss it. His childhood is revealed in Flesh & Blood, so I don’t want to mention too much here. But, suffice it to say, it wasn’t a pleasant one. It was so bad, in fact, it affected Cristian so much that he doesn’t like to top during sex or even ride his lover. Both these acts bring back memories Cristian has worked hard over the years to forget.
Rules seven, eight and nine are taken from a Kenny Rogers song. Cristian’s father is a fan of country music and taught these rules to Cristian. He may not like anything else of his father’s, but Cristian did takes these rules to heart.
Fourteen and sixteen are a couple of Cristian’s OCD issues. As a kid there were very few things he had control over, so he took ownership of what he could. He kept his room neat to please his father and he continued the habit into adulthood.
One of the most important rules is fifteen, though it isn’t mentioned until book two. Cristian’s not the most eloquent man, especially when it comes to discussing emotions. But his love for Colby changed him so much he had to make a rule to say those three little words at least once a month, though he often does it more than just the one time. At one time this rule was different, but it’s lost in Cristian’s memory because now the past doesn’t have to affect his future.

Ethan Stone is an out and proud gay man. Which is fairly new in his life, the out part, not the gay part. He’s been queer his whole life, though he tried to deny it for years with a wonderful woman. The years in denial weren’t all bad, he has two amazing kids out of it. His son is a teenager and his daughter has made him a grandfather, three times over. A way too young grandfather.
Ethan has returned to Oregon after almost a decade in Nevada. He no longer has a day job and is doing his best to make a living at this writing thing. If he can’t make a living, he at least wants to support his Mt. Dew and beef jerky addictions.

Can’t wait to see how/when the rules get broken!
I love mystery/romance. This one sounds great. It sounds familiar so I think this is possibly a re-release of a book that I wanted to read the first time around but never did.

Wonderful cover and I look forward to reading your book.
Thank you for a chance to win one of Ethan’s books. The list was most helpful in understanding Christian, as they are pretty much used to protect him from potential commitment, anyone finding out to much about him and also from being hurt, as well as show his OCD tendencies 🙂
congrats Waxapplelover!
