This is a Series Review of One Warlock’s Love Story Series (Books 1 – 4)
AUTHOR: Shad O. Walker
PUBLISHER: Torquere Press, Inc.
SERIES REVIEW:
When we got a request to review Book Four in this series, “The Stormy Knight”, I decided to review the three other books in the series as well. I’m really glad I did because there is no way any of the books in this series are meant to be standalones. All Knight Long could be, but like the other books, it ends in a cliffhanger scenario so really shouldn’t be read unless you intend to continue. Unless you are the opposite of me and can read a book and put it down and not wonder what happens next….just saying.
I really enjoyed the books in the series. If I were to pick my favorite I would say it was Book Two, “One Moore Knight”. I also really, really enjoyed that the main characters weren’t a group of twenty-something white kids. Having the main character and a lot of the support cast be black gives a total different feel to the story. There were references to other races as well, nice to know the supernatural world is diverse! I would really like to see more positive black gay characters in the m/m or overall LGBTQ genres, and hope others take the plunge like this author did.
I would also like to commend the artist who created the covers for this series. They are far above the norm. Excellent job!
I recommend this series for anyone who is a favorite of alternate realities where shifters, vampires and magicians live amongst us. It is also important that you not get tied up in caring for all the humans it mentions along the way who are caged for slaughter, entertainment or hunting. Being a full human in their world isn’t a good thing!
Spoiler alert. The series doesn’t end at the end of Book Four, so I and the rest of the fans of this series will be waiting for Book Five. I know it will be a while, but I can hope it comes quickly!
And finally…this is my first read of anything by Shad O. Walker. Love the author’s choice of pen name, or the very creative parents if that is their true name!

TITLE: All Knight Long
LENGTH: 140 Pages
BLURB:
In a world where shape shifters are openly bisexual, vampires have insatiable sex drives, and warlocks emit pheromones, warlock Zander Knight struggles to make sense of his own strict upbringing. Everything in Zander’s world changes the night he decides to break the rules and meet on-line chat buddy Giovanni at supernatural hot spot Club Arcane. Suddenly, he finds himself face to face with a magical conspiracy, a huge family secret, and the most handsome man he’s ever seen.
Zander’s night of drinking and partying comes to a screeching halt when the club is attacked and several magicals are abducted and murdered. Zander is catapulted into the middle of a quest to find who or what is killing supernaturals, while sorting through his feelings for a fearsome shape shifter prince named Tau Long.
Born into a conservative magical family, Zander decides not to tell them he’s gay. Unfortunately, Zander isn’t the only one in his family keeping secrets. This is more than just one warlock’s love story — this is a supernatural adventure.
REVIEW:
How did it take me so long to find this series? It doesn’t matter, because I’ve found it now! I really enjoyed this first book.
Zander Knight is the product of two magical families, the Zander family and the Knight family who have been bitter enemies. All that changed though when Zander’s dad and mom met at a magical event, fell in love, and ended up with a baby on the way. With such prestigious magical ancestors, Zander was expected from birth to be something special. And he has been. His magical talents surpassed warlocks twice his age while he was growing up. But for some strange, unknown reason, Zander’s parents decided to move to a remote area in Georgia and have him attend Public School! No warlock training except from his parents.
Now it is his eighteenth birthday, and Zander is ready to take on the world. He might have neglected to tell his parents and family one small little detail….that he is gay. When he goes off to a magical event in Atlanta, he sneaks off to visit his online friend Giovanni, who he met on the gay (on the down low) warlock website, warlock4warlock.com. Giovanni whisks him off to an underground gay club exclusively for LGBT witches, warlocks, shifters and vampires! Eye candy as far as he can see. Then he meets this huge hunk of a man named Tau. Tau is instantly attracted to Zander’s smell, because all warlocks go through a “ripening” stage when they are ready for sex…and Zander is pretty darn ripe!
When the club is raided by soldiers who kill a bunch of people and kidnap some others, Zander, Tau, Giovanni and Giovanni’s current love interest, the vampire Hung, all escape. But what happens when Zander discovers his grandmother was captured while coming to talk to him that night? Will the group be able to find the prisoners and rescue her and the others?
Loved this story. Can’t wait to start Book Two!

TITLE: One Moore Knight
LENGTH: 191 Pages
BLURB:
In a world where shape shifters are openly bisexual, vampires have insatiable sex drives, and warlocks emit pheromones, warlock Zander Knight only begins to make sense of his supernatural powers and sexuality at his eighteenth birthday. He is among a handful of supernaturals that believe that there are very powerful people who want them all dead. Unfortunately, the politics among shape shifters, vampires, and magicals seems to be getting in the way of finding the truth.
Zander decides to take matters into his own hands and deal with the threat to the supernatural community while he works to mend his own broken heart. Neither Zander or his best friend, Giovanni, is prepared to be ambushed by a shape shifter with a beautiful body and a handsome face.
The result leaves Zander changed forever and literally fighting for his life. This is more than just one warlock’s love story — this is a supernatural adventure.
REVIEW:
This series just keeps getting better! One Moore Knight picks up immediately after the conclusion of All Knight Long.
Zander is furious with both his mother and grandmother for lying to him for eighteen years, and never having told him he is part shifter. Zander’s dad left the night he discovered that Zander and his mother were part-shifter and that Zander was gay. Since he is a total asshole, he is better off gone! Because Zander can’t get past the lies from his family, he decides to take off to Atlanta and live with Giovanni and see if he can get his life in order and figure out what he wants in regards to his relationship with Tau.
First though, he decides he should visit his grandfather, the shifter, and find out what he can of his heritage. His grandfather, Anderson Moore, or Moore as he prefers to be addressed is a full shifter. Unlike most of the rest of the shifters in the world, Moore can still shift fully into the form of a mountain lion. The majority of the shifters shift into something which is a cross of human and whatever animal they are. I pictured a character from the old Wolfman movies. Big and hairy and walking on two legs. Moore tells Zander that he can teach him to shift, without waiting for Zander to turn twenty one and start to develop the shifting on his own. He also tells him he should be able to shift completely, just like his grandfather.
Along the way in the book we have a vampire event that goes terribly wrong because of Giovanni, we have a double crossing shifter who is working for the other side, we have a virgin…but not for long, and we have a lot of humor and action.
I love the way the author puts little snippets in which make the lines humorously entertaining. I was distraught when I got to the last page, dragged my finger and nothing happened….then I looked down and saw 100%! Glad I have Book Three to start immediately!

TITLE: Last Goode Knight
LENGTH: 176 Pages
BLURB:
In a world where shape-shifters are openly bisexual, vampires have insatiable sex drives, and warlocks emit pheromones, the young warlock Zander Knight has uncovered several dangerous secrets surrounding the supernatural community.
His passion to get at this truth has left him in a coma and very near death. With the news that Zander is fighting for his life, Tau rushes to his side, torn between his responsibility to his family to participate in the fight-to-the-death pack trials and being there for the love of his life.
Zander’s friends are finally starting to realize that he might have been right about a very real threat to the supernatural community. If that weren’t enough, there are rumblings about a supernatural race war in the making. This is more than just one warlock’s love story — this is a supernatural adventure.
REVIEW:
Another really good installment in the One Warlock’s Love Story saga.
We begin with Zander still in a coma from the events in Book Two. Giovanni recovered quickly, but then again he is only two supernatural species, Zander is now all three!
Tau rushes to Zander’s side to try to help him break out of his coma. By Tau going into Zander’s mind the group hopes to awaken Zander. When that doesn’t work, Tau’s father drags Tau back to their family estate to prepare for the upcoming fight to the death pack trial.
A whole lot takes place in this installment. We have the sudden death of one of the characters, which can I just say was totally unexpected! I had to back up and reread the sentence, and then go WTF? We also have Zander finding his new abilities as a tri. But what about his duties to the vampires who made him, and his responsibilities to Tau? What will happen when Tau enters the to-the-death arena still unmated? Will Zander finally make up his mind when there are almost FIFTY men and women competing to be Tau’s Alpha Mate? Will he enter the ring? And if so can he win?
Loved this installment, again got to the 100% way too fast, and now I’m off to start Book Four!

TITLE: That Stormy Knight
LENGTH: 199 Pages
BLURB:
In a world where shape shifters are openly bisexual, vampires have insatiable sex drives, and warlocks emit pheromones that make everyone around them horny, Zander Knight finds himself at a crossroads. He emerges from a coma with the realization that that he may be the only living being in the world that is part vampire, part magical and part shape shifter.
Unable to understand or control his new powers, his condition puts him at odds with his family who is at the very center of a movement to end supernatural race mixing. If that weren’t enough, he is being forced to choose between his place in the House of Aleph and his position as the Alpha mate for his lover and pack leader, Zuri Tau Long.
Just as Zander’s world is changing, so is the supernatural community. New threats arise as different factions of vampires, shifters and magicals fight to take their place in the new order. Zander is left deciding between fighting for his family and friends, and fighting to save the world that he has come to know and love. This is more than just one warlock’s love story – this is a supernatural adventure.
REVIEW:
In this installment, evil warlocks are out to rule the world! And Zander’s family is right in the middle of it!
Zander has recovered from any side effects of becoming a vampire, and now is comfortable as a tri-nature. He and Tau have settled down to wedded bliss, and it turns out both of their families are fine with their mating. Well…except for Zander’s Dad, Uncle and Aunt who think he is some sort of abomination…
Unfortunately, forces are at work that will tear the supernatural community apart. Several evil warlocks, including Zander’s Dad and Uncle have banded together to lie to the magical community about danger from the shifters and vampires. At the same time they have instilled violence between those two communities by staging attacks on the vampires and blaming the shifters, and attacks on the shifters and blaming the vampires.
When one of them comes up with a poison that will wipe out the vampires and shifters, is there any hope? Then when young shifters form a gang and young vampires form a gang and each go on a hunt and destroy mission against their opposites, will anyone survive?
I hate that I finished Book Four and now have to wait for the next installment. I love a good series like this one, but I truly hope it isn’t carried to too many installments. That said, I’ll be eagerly awaiting Book Five! I’m hoping in that one we get to see more about the tri-nature powers that Zander has. Inquiring minds want to know if he is the man of prophecy!

[…] I’m going to have to rate this one lower than the others in the series and give it a 3.5, which on our scale means that I like it and it has above average writing. I wouldn’t be able to give it a 4.0 and recommend this book without reservations. I’m hoping in the next book in the series that some of these loose storylines are tied up and the overall story becomes a little more focused. If you’ve read the other four books in the series, you will want to read this one, but this is definitely not a standalone book. You have to read all of them, and read them in order.
