TITLE: Crash & Burn
SERIES: Cut & Run #9
AUTHOR: Abigail Roux
PUBLISHER: Riptide
LENGTH: 419 pages
BLURB:
It’s been five years since Special Agents Ty Grady and Zane Garrett first worked together to solve the Tri-State murders, and time has been both harsh and kind. Engaged now, they face the challenge of planning a deeply uncertain future together. Zane is at the pinnacle of his career with one last mystery to solve, while Ty is at sea in a world where he’s no longer the tip of a spear.
There’s just one more hurdle in the way of their happy ever after: a traitor from their inner circle who threatens to burn their world to the ground.
Squeezed between the Vega cartel, an unknown mole, and too many alphabet agencies to count, Ty and Zane must gather all their strength and resources to beat the longest odds they’ve ever faced. To make it out alive, they’ll need help from every friend they’ve got. Even the friends who might betray their trust.
REVIEW:
I remember years ago reading Cut & Run and thinking, this book is everything. Nothing will ever be able to top this! Then the sequel came out and it was phenomenal too, and so went the pattern over the subsequent years. Ty and Zane are the type of characters that brand themselves into your soul. I think about them all the time, like they’re close friends or family. This being the final book in the series is bittersweet. I think it’s definitely time, but I will definitely miss all the shenanigans these two men get up to.
This final installment is jam-packed full of mystery, intrigue, betrayal, passion, lies, possession, and violence. This was, without a doubt, the twistiest turniest book of the entire series, in my opinion. At times I was like, oh my GOSH, not again, but in retrospect I think it had to happen like this because all the loose ends needed to tied up. So, as a reader and lover of the series I appreciated that aspect.
For us die hard Ty and Zane fans we know trouble isn’t far when it comes to these two men. In book 9, the hammer drops, secrets are exposed, and battle lines are drawn. I really enjoyed the opening of the story. Ty and Zane are as in love as ever, committing themselves to each other. They’re moving forward with their plans outside of law enforcement, and things seem pretty great. Unfortunately, they don’t stay that way.
Without giving too much away, Nick is a vital part of this book. We get an even closer look into his and Ty’s relationship and how bonded all the Sidewinder’s are. Liam Bell is also in the majority of the book. Like always we don’t know which team he is playing for, it’s almost like we are on the edge of our seats the entire time. What’s great was Ms. Roux put all the integral characters from past books in the final story. We got to see Julian Cross and Preston, The Grady’s, Grandpa Grady, and The Garrett’s. There was also a breathtakingly beautiful moment with Zane and his momma.
One of the things that really got me when I read the first book was Ty and Zane, crazy connection and chemistry. Having been together 5 years, that spark hasn’t diminished at all. The passion and love burns just as bright in book 9 as it did in book 1. These men have really ruined me when it comes to other main characters. They are the epitome of all I hold dear in characters of this amazing genre.
The writing as always is superb, this author is a talent beyond words and I can’t wait for other stories, and falling in love with new characters.
This review was a little difficult for me because there are so many twist and surprises that I didn’t want to give anything away. There are some heartbreaking moments. I screamed “NOOOOOOO” several times and I had to take breaks. This book is an emotional rollercoaster beyond epic proportions but I enjoyed every minute of it.
This series is a must read for everyone who loves this genre and this book is the perfect ending to an amazing ride. I will be thankful everyday that I’ve gotten to know these amazing men through this authors work.

Absolutely loved it! Read it without ever putting it down, hah. Worth it!
Crash & Burn was just epic!! An amazing end to the series. My wishes now are that Ty & Zane pop up now and again in the Sidewinder books….but I am also excited about the continuing adventures of Nick & Kelly!
This series was awesome and again I would like to thank Abi’s friend for quitting smoking and saving Kelly. Without that Sidewinder wouldn’t have been the same, we would never had seen Nick & Kelly together and we would have had a very different book 9 and ending, I’m sure =)
I absolutely love all of “Cut & Run” books as well as “Sidewinder”. I’ve read them repeatedly. Now, can’t wait for Part & Parcel:)
Great review! I read the book in 2 days and I’m already itching to read it again.
I loved the series, I loved this book. From the drop in’s from Sidewinder and from other faces we’ve not seen in a while. To Ty and Zane’s humour and of course, cats. Where would we be without them! A wonderful series wrapped up in an emotionally charged, slightly frayed yet entirely wonderful bow!
I totally 150% agree with everyone. This book was so perfectly done. Wrapped everything up nicely, and it was so unbelievably gratifying. I too can’t wait for more Sidewinder stories. Little glimpses of Ty and Zane will be such a treat!!!
Thank you all for the comments!!!
