I spent last week in the snow!!!
Okay, so a lot of people might think that was no big deal, but for little old Californian me, watching big, fluffy flakes of snow fall has to be one of my best memories!
I was in Colorado for an immersion class on the craft of writing. I landed in Denver and from there we drove all the way up to about 9500 feet, to a tiny little place called Coal Creek Canyon. There I stayed in an adorable little lodge with writer Belinda McBride. We attended Margie Lawson’s writer’s academy together. I’d love to say I’m a brilliant writer now, but it’s more likely to be true if I just say I now know what snow looks like when it clusters up into big, complicated snowflakes.
I’ve seen snow fall a few times, but before last week, the flakes were really too small to see much of anything. They might as well have been the potato flakes they use in films to get a snowfall scene. And oh, it was so beautiful! Silent and gray, drifting down and forming soft mounds all over everything. Dusting the trees. Glistening everywhere. (Even my nose and eyelashes, as Maria sang in Sound of Music.) Oh my gosh. That had to be one of my favorite things for sure.
So now you know that inside the heart of this California girl there’s a snow queen, just waiting to happen.
It’s hard to imagine that there might be someone, somewhere who has never dug their toes into the hot sand of summer on the shore of the Pacific Ocean. Never played in the surf, or ridden the waves or sailed. I guess that’s just as strange as never seeing snow fall.
I think we need an exchange program for people who have never seen one or the other! I volunteer for more snow!!
As for work, YES! I have been working. 😀

Deep, Book 2
Leave a note and slip away to Paris alone, Adin thought. It’ll prove to his vampire lover he doesn’t need 24/7 supervision, Adin thought. Instead, Adin lands in a surreal situation that isn’t going to endear him to Donte. At. All.
As he awaits an old foe, Ned Harwiche III, for a prearranged meeting, Adin is head butted, tossed into the back of a car…then gets the chance to acquire an artifact Harwiche had been bidding on.
Adin jumps at it, if only as payback for all the dirty tricks Harwiche has pulled over the years. To his horror, the “artifact” turns out to be an adolescent boy named Bran.
Sickened, Adin vows to help the boy out, but like Donte—like a lot of the world Adin never knew existed—Bran isn’t at all what he seems to be.
While Donte and Adin negotiate the meaning of the word “forever”, Bran is running out of time. Especially when tragedy and betrayal pit Adin’s long-cherished beliefs against Donte’s love.
Product Warnings:
Contains a gothed-up college professor armed with guyliner (which is a big problem when you’re up against a little monster) and an old vampire who doesn’t like his lover out of reach. Not that he can’t administer discipline from afar…
